Clubbing in Oslo #2

Filed in: Clubbing, Street Fashion

Last night I was at a party at this new place called Champagneria. There were free drinks and tapas and the espering soul star Sofian was singing. Some lucky people (including myself) also got his CD. The place was packed with Norwegian celebs and fashion people, so I wanted to catch some of them on camera for you. This proved to be difficult since the place was very crowded. But for my first attempt of taking pictures of innocent people I guess you can bear with me…

Moschino’s pallette was black and beige with hints of fresh colors in between. The look was very innocent and sweet, and I loved it!

Moschino Moschino

Missoni also had a lot of those subtile, innocent, but fresh colors.

Missoni Missoni

Gucci had stronger colors and the style was much more edgy than seen in most of the other shows so far. For many this might come as a fresh breeze, but I kind of feel comfortable with the pallettes and styles of Marni, Anna Sui and Moschino.

String It

Filed in: Accessories, DIY, Fashion, Jewelry, Shopping

I went to H&M and found some nice stuff that you can easily make youself. Normally I would have just stolen the ideas, but I’m too busy right now, so I bought it. Still, I thought I’d share the idea with you guys.

Pom-Poms on a String

This cute necklace is made out of pom-poms! If you take a look at Pom Up Your Style you’ll see how to make the pom-poms. Then it’s just to put some pom-poms and some beads on a string. I love the combination with the wooden and glass beads. To match it I bought some colorful tights in the same colors.

Buttons on a String

Another simple, but great idea. Put some nice and big buttons on a string, and voila; a necklace! To make the buttons stay put you have to string them twice, once on each side. Put some wooden beads between each of them. I bought some nice tights to match this necklace as well.

I am absolutely loving the collection from Marni! Especially the belts that were seen through most of the show. The colors are also very delightful. The mint green goes perfectly with the brownish tones…

…I also loved Alberta Ferretti…

The short shorts seem to be big next year. I am loving it; can’t wait for summer!

D&G’s spring 2006 collection was all white. I think this easily can become a little dull, but I loved this collection! It was very sweet. I loved all the see through fabrics and laces.

Emporio Armani’s collection was more black than white, and may be a little heavy for summer for many. The combinations black and white (or light pink) was frequent. I not sure what to feel about this “skirt on top of a shorts”-thing. But there were some interesting combinations, like the black and white polka-dot dress on top of a colorful striped skirt.

Suspenders

Filed in: Accessories, Designers, Fashion

I love suspenders, and now they seem to be on the way into the spotlight. Here by Luella and Karen Walker for spring 2006:

What I think is difficult about suspenders is that they seem to pull the pants up your ass, which doesn’t look very good. Already this fall you can find some nice ones in brown leather at H&M. I’ve bought mine in at the Norwegian version of the Dollar Store, and they work just fine!

Flea Hunting

Filed in: Accessories, DIY, Fashion, Handbags, Secondhand, Shoes

Most of my weekends are dedicated to flea hunting. This time I didn’t end up with anything that really had my heart beating like hell. But I found these cute t-strap shoes that I payed $2 for that looks like never has been worn. I have several pairs of shoes in this style so I don’t really need them, but for that price I’ll buy anything…

This red little clutch I adore, but I ended up paying a lot more than I hoped for. That’s why the shortness of breath hasn’t kicked in like it should. It has three pockets, all with this really funky lining.

I also bought some yarn and some knitting needles, and I’m planning to knit a chain mail scarf I saw at Girlshop. I’m so busy these days that I have to wait and see if the project succeeds.

At last I found a jacket that belongs to a pair of pants I bought years ago. I never could afford the jacket then, but now I payed $3 for it. I don’t love is at much as I used to anymore, but hey, this must have been faith! I payed about the same for this black chinese dress also. I have wanted one of them since I was a kid, and even though I’m not the biggest fan of them at the moment, it felt kind of nice to finally have one.

All and all I made no super bargains… Or did I? I think I’m a little numb right now. Too busy to enjoy this the way I should. Anyway, I can’t wait for next weekend! Hope I find something really neat then.

Sixties Fashion Sources

Filed in: Fashion, Movies

rosemarys baby catherine

The 60’s is hot right now in fashion and will continue to be at least a season longer. I find it helpful to turn to the original sources to get inspiration, that way you can be trendy without looking like everybody else.

MOVIES

A very smart and enjoyable way to do this is to watch movies. I have here picked a few good movies from the 60’s that may come in very handy these days.

Rosemary’s Baby Rosemary’s outfits are very typical for the 60’s, and the movie is also one of the best horror movies ever.

Psycho Another horror movie.

La Dolce Vita

Darling I have never seen it, but it was Julie Christine’s (see under icons) most important movie.

ICONS

Besides movies it’s also very helpful to have a look at icons from the right decade. This way you can’t go wrong. The icons you should be the most aware of in this matter are:

Catherine Deneuve

Jackie Kennedy Who will never go out of style.

Twiggy Who is just adorable.

Julie Christine As mention under the movie Darling.

Create Cool Cufflinks

Filed in: Accessories, DIY, Fashion

diy cufflinks

This seasons masculine style may put many girls in the need of cufflinks. At least the shirt I bought has french cuffs. Untill now I had just planned to borrow my boyfriends cufflinks unless I found something secondhand, but then I came across this DIY project on Craftster. I don’t think all the ones pictured are all that nice, but the idea is good. By making your own you can have any shape and colour wanted. How about some red ones to match your red shoes?

Beautiful Belts

Filed in: Accessories, Designers, Fashion

It’s time to return to the season we’re in, at least for a while… Belts are all over right now. You can put them on top of just about anything, and it’s an easy way to update that old outfit if you’re short on cash. Most important is that it’s supposed to be around the waist, not around the hip. Another trend seen coming is the use of two belts at once. To put you in the mood, here are some pictures.

Nina Ricci belt
Buy a big silk band and get the look from Nina Ricci for nearly nothing.

Alexander McQeen belt
A more ladylike look from Alexander McQeen.

missoni belt
70’s from Missoni.

As you see there are so many ways of combining the belt with your outfit right now, that you can’t go wrong. Now that it’s starting to get cold a good idea is to put the belt on top of a jacket. A trench coat or a faux leopard fur jacket are ideas I have in mind… Experiment and have fun!
