My 2005 in Fashion
Filed in: Fashion
I decided that it would be useful to look back at my past year in terms of fashion to come up with a fashion New Year’s resolution.
Shopping: Less shopping than previous years because of two reasons, the first is that I’ve been low on cash, the second is that I’ve been short on time. I did not get up early as many Saturday mornings to get the best stuff at flea markets as in 2004. Still, when I have bought something I have often put a little extra money in it and made sure it was something I needed and wanted. I still made a few mistakes, but not as many as before.
Craftsyness: I sewed my first successful dresses and I made tons of jewelry. I’ve spent money investing in fabrics and beads, making sure I always have something lying around for when I get the DIY spirit over me. I’ve learned to be more patient infront of the sewing machine.
Getting Dressed: The fist half of the year was full of experimenting, high heels and new combos. That’s how I love it. The second half of the year was the busiest so far in my life and it was easy to just throw on jeans and a t-shirt. I never even used to wear pants before. Quite disappointed with myself in that area. Number of times I’ve worn heels alone in the apartment has gone way down. Number of times I’ve left the house wearing sneakers and jeans has gone up.
Keeping Tidy: I gave away more last year than ever before. I can’t begin to think how many bags of clothes I carried down to the Salvation Army. I don’t regret any of the give-aways cause now I can’t even remember what it was I gave away. Except a pair of expencive jeans I never wore that still hurts. I also made many new systems for finding things easy. Clothes spent little time on the floor and much time on hangers.
Conclution: I’ve become a better shopper and I’ve been better at giving away the stuff I don’t need. I’ve also made more myself last year than ever before. Downside is I’ve become less creative when getting dressed, mostly because of lack of time.
Fashion New Year’s Resolution: Spending more time playing around in the closet.

Our resolutions are a lot alike. I’m a very casual person, but I want to show off my sense of style more and dress up more often. Even if it’s just a pair of heels. Overall, I just want to take care of myself better and set time aside from everything to get all dolled up.

What’s the point with pretty clothes if no one sees them. :) I also feel like showing off my sense of style more. At university people must think I’m the bigges slob…

I would like to do the less shopping thing, but i ain’t making no promises. I am at the point in my life where I pretty much know my style and I try not to have too many shopping mistakes. Its a learning process.
