Food vs. New Additions to the Wardrobe
Filed in: Fashion, Secondhand
Usually I get my butt out of bed every Sunday in time to get to my local flea market when it opens. This morning I was a little hung over and woke up late. I actually decided not to go to the flea market at all, but I went out later to buy some Mozarella that I knew was on sale cause I’ve been eating it for every meal lately. I am broke these days but always put away money for food, so I brought this and stopped by the flea market. It turned out to be the day I should have been there early. This woman carrying a Gucci handbag was selling her wardrobe for just about nothing. I can’t imagine what I missed out on in the hours other people were grabbing “my” stuff. My favorite find was a leather trench coat in a very bold color. I’ve got nothing like this in the closet and a leather jacket for $15 is just too good to give up. She told me how she had bought it on a flea market in Paris, and now I was standing at a flea market in Oslo looking at the same jacket. When I tried it on people around me were nodding to eachother as to say it looked good. Others were waiting for me to pass it on. I held on to it tight and also grabbed a couple of tops for a dollar each and a handbag that I had to fight another girl for. In other words: no food on me today. I am desperately trying to figure out how fix this mess as my boyfriend has to eat as well…

[…] Filed in: Fashion, Shopping, SecondhandAlmost a year ago I bought a blue leather trench at a flea market for $15. It was very cheap, but I was broke, so I chose the trench over food that day. I loved the jacket but ended up not wearing it because of its rather difficult color. Today was the first time I wore it for real. When I put my hands inside the pockets I discovered that one of them had a hole in the bottom. I but my hand down the lining and pulled up some hair accessories. I put my hand down again and found some paper. When I pulled it up I was standing there with $15 in my hands. If I only had done the same thing that day I would have been able to eat as well as shop! It´s kind of funny to think about that I got the jacket for free without even knowing about it! […]
