Scrapbook Lookback
I had a look back in my old fashion scrapbooks from 4-5 years ago, and I was surprized by how little things have changed over the last few years. Most of the cutouts are of outfits I would still wear today.

Suspenders, wellies, knee-highs, high waist skirts, buttoned up shirt and socks in pumps.

Pouffy sleeves, masculine look and tweed.

Wellies, gold shoes and all sorts of socks and stockings.
I have noticed how things become trendy one season for so to come back with a year or two break. Good news for us girls living on a tight budget, but also a little boring. I feel like it’s been forever since something totally new happened. Maybe it’s just hard to see the big lines while we’re in the middle of it all…
I guess the moral is never to throw out old clothes cause you never know when it comes back in style.

Wow, you’re right! Pretty much all that stuff would go down well right now. I guess we’ll wait a few more years and see what happens then ;)

I can’t wait to flip through my scrapbooks in five years or so. I’ll probably think I had the worst taste…

Yes! I noticed that too; there are smaller 2-3 year cycles for accessories and styling choices. (I recall that with capelets & ponchos and jewelry, especially.) I am very curious to see when the mood of fashion changes for the decade; my own scrapbook cuttings show a mish-mash of styles for the past 5 years or so, which is good, because I love that there is less pressure from the runways to conform to one look. The “anything goes” mantra has been freeing! I just wonder what will replace the jet-set/boho/disheveled luxury look that has hung around so long. I am waiting for something new, too.

Henri-V; I also love that there is no strict rules anymore. My mom told be about fashion when she was young, and back then when something was in it was the only thing. When mini skirts came even old ladies wore them. :)
Beth; yes, it’s so much fun. I’m so happy I’ve actually kept doing this for years.

yeah i agree, i like to stick to classics, but i love the victorian and western trends this past season, so hopefully they will come back in a few seasons.

That’s the good thing about things coming back again: you can wear the thing you like over and over again. I was thrilled last year when the wedges came back, and even more so that I can use them another season. :)
