I felt a little silly going into the hardware store, walking around in my heels and mumbeling something meaningless when they asked me what I was going to use all the chains for. When looking through the spring collections I had noticed that many designers used chains for their accessories, and I thought that had to be pretty easy to make, not to mention affordable. I decided to start off with something super simple, like this Alexander McQueen chain belt:

I bought 1 meter of medium sized chains for this one. I could have had it a little longer, but it fits nicely around my hips and hangs down almost as much as the McQueen one. To fasten it I used an ordinary jewelry hook in gold found in any jewelry and hobby stores. These come with a little metal ring that you can squeeze on with a pair of scissors or anything else you have lying around. The final product cost me about $4 and took about 1 minute to make. It doesn’t look as glam as the McQueen belt, but I guess it wouldn’t if I got it at H&M either. Anyway the chains came in all kinds of shapes on the runway.
