Lookbook

Filed in: Fashion, Links

From the Norwegian blog Fashion Files I learned something I probably should have known: At Style.com you can specialize your own lookbook where you can among other things save and organize the runway pictures you like the best. This is genious: I am ready for fashion week! Now I know why it said “add to my lookbook” everywhere. I feel silly. In case you didn’t know either: now you do.

In Case You Wonder Why I’m Always Broke…

Filed in: Misc

cities.jpg I stumbled over this on Fashiontribes. It doesn’t come as a surprise cause I do live in this city, but I thought I’d post it so you better see what is driving me to write this blog. Now you see why many of my posts start with “I’m so broke…”. And why I dedicate my time to find affordable alternatives in the fashion world. And why I embrace the priciples of DIY with all I’ve got. And why I get out of bed every single Saturday morning in the season at 8 a.m. to be first in line at the flea markets. And why I until recently shared an apartment with four other people. Feel sorry for me yet? The income does of course match the costs, it’s just that as a student I can’t really reach up to those hights…

Creative Contrasts

Filed in: Fashion

contrasts fashion

We have seen a lot of contrasts on the runways lately and I just love this! Mixing different looks and have it look good isn’t always easy, but simple things can do the trick. Here are some keywords:

Sexy vs. buttoned up

Narrow vs. volume

Simple vs. glamour

Masculine vs. feminine

Dark vs. light

Cute vs. hard

Play around with what works for you. Most importantly you shold feel good in the outfit. A little contrasting detail can do the trick if you don’t want to take it too far.
