Slips

slips

Guise wrote a great post on slips under sheer dresses (above pictures). I love this look! What I also love is wearing vintage slips as dresses. It’s not such a far way to go when the dress on top is sheer to begin with. Vintage slips are cheap, you find them everywhere and they often have pretty details you seldom find on regular dresses. The only problem with this look is that slips often are a bit sheer and they have a tendancy to show off every flaw on your body. This problem is mostly for the vintage ones, but it can be fixed by wearing two slips on top of each other. Layering really works with this look. Wearing the slip in a size bigger than you normally wear will prevent it from clinging too much. Add a pair of heels and a cardigan and you’ve got an instant summery look. Or you can add some motorcycle details to brake the sweetness. Here are a few of my favorites:

slip slip
The first one I’ve sewed flowers on to make it a little more special. It doesn’t work well as a dress, but I have worn it several times with dresses with deep necklines. The second is dressed up with a brooch.

slip3 slip
The first one here is pretty much like what you’ll often find in secondhand stores. The second may not look too special, but is actually my favorite. The skirt is pouffy and it looks like a princess dress when worn, not at all like slip.
