Fridays always has a bad start. I have a really early lecture and both the teacher and the guy who cleans the building(!) is giving me a hard time. I left class today feeling like I had to make up for those two awful hours by doing something extra nice. I went shopping for lots of nice food and made a killer lunch. For dinner we had clams and white wine. To go with all the nice food I had to wear a dress and heels. That’s my way of flipping the bird to those stupid people taking their miserable lives out on me. Oh, and screw winter! (It started snowing again today.)
Dress: H&M (The one I bought yesterday. It can be tied around the waist but I used a belt instead today.)
Shoes: Unisa
Singlet underneath: Mens H&M
Slip: Secondhand
Belt: Secondhand, eBay
Necklaces: First is my mother’s engagement ring on a chain, second is an heirloom from my grandma, bottom two are from Tama Pieces.

The collar seems to be in focus for fall and I’ve already mentioned all the clown inspired collars that were seen on the runways. A more important keyword though is BIG. Jackets, sweaters, dresses; you’ll find big collars on everything. A couple of designers even took it so far that the collar can be used as a hood. The most accessable for us is probably the knitted sweather with a slouchy collar. I bet many of you already have one in your closet too.

Andrew Gn, Kenneth Cole, Emilio Pucci and D&G.

Today I had no plans of shopping, but that’s what I ended up doing. The first time I was out I wore this outfit with black boots. When I came home I found out I had to swap a dress I bought so I run out again. I put on my Converse and I realized I felt much better in the outfit with laidback shoes. It was so great being able to wear a trench coat without freezing to death!
You’ve already seen the shoes I bought when shopping (leaning towards returning as I don’t really need them but do need other things) but the dress I bought I am super happy with! It’s all white and very summery so I hope the weather holds so I can wear it soon.
Trench: H&M
Jeans: Levi’s 571
T-shirt: From a music festival
Purse: Secondhand, eBay
Shoes: Converse
I was also wearing big black sunglasses from H&M.

I’ve gone all crazy about the nautical look, but every time I thought about an outfit I couldn’t figure out what shoes to wear with it. I had been wondering about this problem for a couple of weeks when I today finally went to buy these typical nautical shoes. They were cheap and comfortable. The problem is that I’m worried I’m going to be all “Hey, I’m nautical!” or something. In addition I remembered, just a few minutes after buying the shoes, that I do have a pair of comfortable golden heels that might work. So the question is: Should I take them back or should I keep them? Don’t be afraid to give me your honest opinion.
Mine are just like the ones on the picture only they have white and blue stripes on the inside.

Kate Moss has been spotted wearing a fedora several times lately. Honestly, I didn’t think we were going to see it again for a while. I’m not so sure I like it, but I do like her jacket; it would be a nice way to add a little masculinity to some outfits.

I’ve mentioned Tama Pieces before in my post about eBay sellers, but it didn’t at all get the attention it deserved. Today I received some jewelry from them so it was the perfect chance to write a few more words.
The store is very trend concious and right now it’s filled with nautical themed jewelry, birds and a whole lot more. This makes it a store you can turn to over and over again. As for the quality they look just as beautiful in person as on the pictures. The prices are good too; some of the jewelry are sold as auctions which means you can make a bargain, while others are sold at a “buy it now” price. Prices vary but necklaces are usually between $10 and $20.
Now I can’t wait for it to get a little warmer so I can match these with cute dresses and high heels!

Remember that really long necklace Carrie Bradshaw wrapped around her neck in on of the first episodes of Sex and the City? Well, I had some chains left after my chain projects that I didn’t know what to do with. Then I came to think about Carrie’s necklace and how simple but nice it was. I didn’t find a good picture of it, but you see a little of on the first picture. What I wanted was to combine that look with the chain trend. All I had to do was to wrap the two meters of chains I had left around my neck, and voila: a necklace! It wouldn’t hurt to have it a little shorter, but for now I thought I’d try it like this.

At Bunnyshop I discovered these Christian Louboutins with the same name as me! They are the Agathe leather pumps. What better reason does one need to buy a pair of insanely expencive shoes?
Too bad they’re sold out, but I guess if it really is faith they’ll come my way anyway, and I can’t wait!

I’ve mentioned checks like a hundred times before in the runway wrap-ups, but it seems to become such a big trend that I thought it was a good idea to collect the key garments in one post.
The skirt

Bottega Veneta, Paul Smith Women, Burberry Prorsum and Moschino.
The dress

Zac Posen, Michael Kors, Peter Jensen and Balenciaga.
The jacket

Etro, Aquascutum, Kenzo and D&G.

Argh, even though it’s getting warmer there’s no weather for thin jackets or nice shoes yet. I am trying to scare winter away with my nautical inspired outfit.
Jeans: H&M
T-shirt: H&M
Necklace: Secondhand

Yesterday was one of those days where everything is fine but still I feel like shit. My boyfriend remembered that our three year anniversary had been two days ago, so we thought we had to celebrate a little by having a few beers at the nearby pub. (Yeah, we’re not very romantic…) To go with my bad mood I dressed all black. Red lips and red clutch were the only signs that there should be some romance in the air.
Jeans: Levi’s 571
T-shirt: Trail of Dead (one of my favorite bands)
Belt with metal studs: Secondhand
Clutch: Secondhand
Boots with lacing in the back: My mom’s old ones

Those are my two obsessions these days. Not necessarily together, but they are both great to make outfits a little more interesting. A little splash is enough. The two things I am missing are a leopard handbag and comfortable red shoes. I have several pairs of red shoes but none that are made for walking. What I have gotten my hands on lately are these, including a pair of leopard socks that I am planning to wear in pumps and a red lipstick:

The biggest inspiration for this is Gwen Stefani with her daring leopard dresses and red lips. It’s hard to pull it off if copying her excactly, but still she’s just so all about the look that it’s hard to ignore her.

The perfect source for the look is eBay since both red and leopard are such classics, that’s where I got both the bag and shoes.

After the last time I wore this skirt I kept thinking of an outfit I had seen in Oscar de la Renta’s spring collection. I found out that it was the perfect outfit to attempt one of my goals: not to obsess too much about matching. Often I need everything to go with each other in a very obvious way while some of the best outfits are actually the ones that look great without matching. You know the outfits where the garments kind of talk together and get along without being best friends. A step in the right direction was to copy something I thought worked. I realize that I didn’t manage to take it all the way since the shoes and bag still match, but when I tried something else I just felt like it was too much too fast. The skirt seem to have been a good investment. When I bought it I wasn’t sure about it, but now I see it works for those garments in the spring collections that had painting-like prints, and it has a little of that DFV black and white print feeling (doesn’t show well on the picture since it’s so small), and now it can be used as a substitute for Oscar de la Renta. What more can a girl ask for?
Skirt: Vintage
T-shirt: Raakmo

The masculine look is still going strong, only I think it looks better now than it did. It’s sexier and more laidback. It shouldn’t look like you borrowed your boyfrieds suit, you’ll need a fitted one. And you can also button down that shirt and show a little skin. I love the little detail in the bowtie. It can make a nice addition to an otherwise feminine outfit to bring in a little of the masculine look.

Bottega Veneta, Stella McCartney, Véronique Branquinho and Lanvin.

Several designers chose to hang on to the look that was so big last fall. Not that I mind it, I love the understated sexiness by it. Don’t let go of those bow blouses or pencil skirts just yet. If you never jumped on the trend the last time around, now’s the time to make some great deals.

Viktor & Rolf, Yves Saint Laurent and Bill Blass.
