Mary-Kate & Me

Filed in: Celebs, Fashion, Shoes

Mary-Kate Olsen When it comes to jeans I feel like I can’t really keep track of what’s happening. Maybe because I’ve never been a big jeans wearer until recently. Therefore it was kind of comforting to see someone wearing identical black skinny jeans to those I chose for my birthday. Not that it’s such a big deal, but at the same time I can’t deny that trends affect my taste. When I know I can’t afford a new pair of jeans in a while it would be a shame to regret my choice. So here she is, Mary-Kate Olsen, in black skinny jeans paired with blue pumps. I love the way she makes such a simple and random looking outfit more interesting by wearing bright colored heels.

Metallic Knits

Filed in: Fashion

Lately I have been totally into metallic knits. It all started when I saw this stylish girl in a metallic knitted sweather that looked awsome. She had put it together with a vintage Chanel quilted bag, jeans and fingerless driving gloves. A couple of weeks later I saw another girl with a plunging neck metallic knit top. After that I have been searching for the perfect one. Gold is big for fall, so getting a golden one would be the smartest. Still, the one I have in mind has more of a champagne color. The dress from Gucci kind of has the look I want, although this is not a knit. The draped slouchy look is just so right. I also found a top on eBay, but it was too big for me. So apart from the girls I spotted, this is kind of my inspiration board:

The Jeans That Make My Life Better

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

For my birthday I also got a pair of jeans of my own choice. Good jeans are expencive and to me a big investment since they’re about the same as I have left after paying food and rent each month. But I didn’t know just how well they’d make me feel. It had been so long since I stepped foot inside a real jeans store that I didn’t really remember my size. When I said I was a 26″ waist they looked at me like I was crazy. That’s the size I wore when I was younger so I thought I still did. After going up to a 29″ waist, I got closer to actually getting them on. I needed some help though, and the guy in the store had me turn around and he lifted me up from behind and forced the jeans on. “That wasn’t so bad”, he said, “I think we found your size.” They were black skinny Levi’s 571. I thought it was a bit boring to spend so much money on Levi’s as I intended to try something new and fancy, but the fancy jeans looked like crap on me. I also wanted black jeans as I have many blue jeans already. The guy in the store told me that these Levi’s was made specially for that store and that there only were 600 of them in the world. I doubt that it’s true, but he told me after I had decided to buy them.

So I got the jeans. It took me a couple of days to actually wear them. Some things just have to be saved a little. Yesterday I put them on for the first time, but it wasnt’ until I wore them today that I realized what effect they had on me. I went shopping and I wore the same jacket and boots as always, but this time I felt different. My walk had changed; I kind of shaked my butt a little while taking really long steps. I also caught myself smiling at strangers. I suddenly realized that I felt like I was on top of the world. Could it be the jeans? The tight fit made feel more aware of my long legs and they gave a great shape to my butt (I usually hate my butt in pants). I also remembered the day before when I had more fun than in a long time getting dressed. The weather is so crappy these days that I have kind of given up, but not yesterday when I put on the jeans. And I had felt really happy for no special reason the last couple of days. Could the jeans make my life that much better?

Whatever the reason is, here are the jeans as I wore them yesterday and today. Both simple outfits, but both making me feel wonderful. It has to be the jeans.
