The Long Walk And Hot Chocolate By The River Outfit

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

outfitI’m very inspired by Tribunal of Good Taste’s daily outfit pictures. You should really check it out; it’s so honest and real. I won’t make my pictures a daily thing cause while finishing my bachelor’s degree I hardly wear anything else than jeans and t-shirts. Daily photos of that would not be very interesting. To get a little push in the right direction I will post pictures when I have the time to wear something more thought through than what is closest to my reach in the closet.

Jeans: H&M
Shirt: H&M
Sweater: Benetton
Cameo brooch: Gift from my dad
Handbag: Secondhand, bought on eBay
Boots: Bianco

Testing: Shoe Dye

Filed in: DIY, Fashion, Secondhand, Shoes

Platforms are back and I’ve been looking for the perfect pair for a while. As all of you probably will agree with: Finding the shoes of your dreams isn’t easy. I came across these suede platforms by Bronx in a secondhand store for a few dollars. They had about the shape I wanted but not the color so I got a pack of suede shoe dye on eBay for £0.99. All in all a good price for finding at least nearly the shoes I want. They’re still far from perfect, but I thought they could make nice everyday platforms. I followed these simple steps:

shoe dye1. Make sure the shoe is clean and dry.

2. Apply the shoe dye with the applicator that comes in the pack. Don’t be afraid to put on alot.

3. Let dry.

4. Brush leather with a cloth brush to get back the proper suede feel.

The before and after shots:

The verdict: In bright daylight I think I can see the old color shine through, but it may be because I know how they looked like before. In normal lighting the color looks very rich and there’s no way of telling they were dyed. The leather got a little harder after dying it, but it might change when I have worn the shoes a couple of times. I tried using a brush to fix this as the box said, but it made it worse. All in all I am happy with the result although I wouldn’t recommend doing this to expencive shoes.
