Outfit: On The Hunt For Vogue Italia

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

outfit Today’s outfit was very random. I was on my way out to get hold of the March issue of Vogue Italia and I threw something on in a hurry. When I was about to leave I realized I needed a belt as my jeans are a little big so I put on the first one I found, hence the red splash. I had to walk all around town to get the magazine. I bet I was into at least 20 places before I finally found the one. I know it’s a bit late to get the March issue in the end of April, but I’ve been short on cash for so long and it costs a lot in Norway. The April issue just isn’t as much fun. The picture is taken on my way home when I took a short cut through a tunnel. My pose is rather slack as I was dead tired of carrying around that huge magazine.

Fabrics

Filed in: Fashion, Trend Alerts

Especially when shopping secondhand I find it useful to have something to go by when shopping for a season ahead. Many secondhand stores sell winter stuff all year around and it’s silly to leave a great deal behind even though you won’t be able to wear it for a few months. Now we’ve had a look at what colors and prints. It’s time to have a look at fabrics. I love how different kind of fabrics were mixed in the runway shows, creating contrast that way in stead of by colors or styles.

Fur

Look for collars or other small fur items that you can easily take on and off to create fur details.

Tweed

Tweed is such a classic and an all time favorite of mine. It can so successfully be mixed with cuter garments like babydolls or slips.

Satin

While the other fabrics are often gray or black, satin is often made in brigther colors, especially purple and yellow.

Knits

It’s most of all the chunky knits you should keep an eye out for. Knitted dresses are also hot.

Leather

Not only am I a fan of the motorcycle jacket that is supposed to be bigger for fall, but it also seems like tan leather is making a huge impression on the runways. Expencive new, but if you keep an eye open you might find some nice gloves or a jacket secondhand.

Velvet

I am not such a big fan of velvet but it’s a classic for winter. I might be convinced again if only I find the right kind. You’ll see it mostly in dark colors like gray, blue and purple.

Lightweight materials

You should also have chiffon or lacey fabrics to mix with all the heavy materials like knits and wool. These will help create great contrasts in your outfits.
