I don’t know whether this is common in other countries, but in Norway most childen’s schools hold two major flea markets a year. The goal is to collect money for the school bands so they have all their neighbours and friends donate stuff they don’t need. Over two days they fill the schools with old things and sell it for a really low price. The gym is usually reserved for clothes, the school yard is filled with furnitures and separate rooms are for toys, books and so on.

The best ones are where the wealthy people live. The one I was at today was one of those. I came 15 minutes before it started and the yard was already packed with people. Usually there are between 20-100 waiting in line before it opens, but on this one there were hundreds, probably a 1000 people. While I was waiting for it to open I was so stressed out that I didn’t even think it was fun. Usually I get a big kick out of these things. Right across the yard I could see a Louis Vuitton bag. I knew I had no chance of getting to it first. When it finally opened it was crazy. People were running everywhere. I managed to enter the gym as one of the first people but soon it was filled up. I got so stressed out that I couldn’t think straight. Usually I manage to find some nice things, but today I was just grumpy and grabbed some stuff in the hope of getting out of there as soon as possible.
I was pretty pissed when I left. I had been bumping into so many people and I had fought over so many items. I didn’t really feel like I had made any bargains, but here are at least most of what I left there with:
1. Red plasic hair band. 2. Crochet collar that I have some DIY plans with. 3. Sweater from Morgan. 4. Motorcycle jacket. 5. Red roses silk scarf. 6. White/black stripe cardigan. 7. Gray wool skirt.
I also got a huge authentic snake skin belt, a bronze bag that matches my shoes and belt from yesterday perfectly and a huge houndstooth scarf.
