Gray & Cognac

Filed in: Designers, Shoes

0112.jpg I have a thing for gray mixed with cognac leather these days. It’s more of a look for fall but since the weather is a bit cold and I really want to wear my new wedges, I thought I’d do it the Chloe way and wear them with gray tights. I don’t feel like a whole outfit shot today, but I’m wearing a dress that went baggy after the rubber bands broke. It’s amazing what I find in my closet when I first have a look! In case you wondered, my foot is to the left and Chloe’s to the right.

The Blue Jean Mini Skirt

Filed in: Fashion, Reader Questions

I know this is a very ordinary question, but here it goes. What do you think the best way to wear a blue jean mini skirt? Or is there even one? I would like to be able to wear one I have, but not look like every other highschooler. Do you have any advice on how to make a creative look or something not so mundane? If so it would be greatly appreciated. You have a wonderful blog that I love to read. And such a great style!

Thanks for writing Chantal, and thank you for your compliments. The jean mini skirt has almost become a classic, but as you say it can be hard not to end up looking like everybody else. A way to make the jean skirt a little more interesting is to play with contrasts. The masculine look will continue to rule fashion for at least another two seasons so this is an element you can use to create contrasts. A way to do this can be by wearing a masculine cut blazer to the mini skirt. That way you’ve got a contrast between the masculine and the feminine in addition to the dressed up and laidback. To tone down the look you can wear the blazer open with your favorite t-shirt inside.

Blazer from LaRedoute, jean skirt from Target and my own favorite tee at the moment from Threadless.
