Outfit: It’s Nearly Summer

Filed in: Accessories, DIY, Fashion, Outfits, Reader Questions

outfit levis black jeans ribbon black bow ribbon It’s closing up to something that feels like summer and I am of course stuck studying. I’m wearing the same shirt as a couple of days ago and the same jeans as usual, but I added a ribbon and a bit more summery shoes.

Jeans: Levi’s 571
Shirt: Mango
Ribbon: From a fabric store (1,5 m, edges burned with a lighter so that it won’t fray.)
Purse: Secondhand (Make-up bag)
Shoes: Secondhand

I include a reader question while we’re talking about ribbons:

Hi, could you please do a tutorial on how to make the perfect bow?

I thought long and hard on the matter without coming up with a good way of explaining it. So I turned to the internet and found several tutorials on how to tie bow ties (works for the same purpose). It’s a tricky business for minds like mine, but I tested out this and this tutorial. The first one looked easier to understand, but the second one is the one I managed to get right on the first try and it formed the bow you see on me today. (Not perfect, but with a little practice…) I hope this helped!

My Weirdest Brooch

Filed in: Accessories, Fashion, Secondhand

brooch animals foot deer antlers gem Once in a while I come across some really weird secondhand stuff. This brooch is one of them. It’s an animals foot (never figured out what animal) with a ring! It’s attached to a silver deer head base with a gem! In the back it has a pin.

It’s so strange and so over the top in such a macabre way that I wonder what kind of person that thought of making such a thing! It was less than a dollar so of course I had to buy it. I’ve actually even worn it a couple of times. Cute, huh?

Biker Fashion Ideas

Filed in: Accessories, Fashion

I love all the different people I get in touch with because of my blog. Recently I got a mail from an American biker who wanted to buy my March issue of Vogue Italia. He was interested in the biker fashion shoot I wrote about. In stead of making a few bucks on the magazine I told him that I could send it to him for free if he sent me some biker accessories in return. In the meantime he had gotten his hands on an issue, but still wanted to send me some stash. I am really excited to see what I get!

What is so great about this guy is that he really got that I was interested in the biker style. As I have written about several times, biker inspired styles is a look to keep an eye out for. He gave me a lot of ideas, so in stead of reading Vogue for biker style, it’s much more fun to get some tips from a real biker. I don’t mean for you to dress up like a biker from head to toe (that might get you in trouble), but add a few elements to your outfit if you like the look. Here are some quotes I hope you’ll enjoy:

“The hardware store is a good place to look for biker accessories. I use a dog choker chain to hold my wallet by adding a chrome clasp to the end of it. Dog collars are oftenly worn then and now by girls, especially the wide ones with spikes on them.”

“Biker chicks still wear halter tops and t-shirts but never a bra.”

“Bandanas are worn then and now as a scarf and also like a sweat band.”

“Slit the bottom hem from blue jeans and unroll it. When it was washed, it would fray nicely”

He also gave me a great idea to search Google or Alta Vista images for “Sturgis Rally”. There you’ll find tons of images for inspiration.

I can’t wait until I get my authentic biker accessories!
