Outfit: Barbecue

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

70s outfit As summer is coming to an end it’s important to make the best out of the days that are left. Today we’re barbecuing in the park. Chicken, grilled squash, raisin sauce and chick pea salad is part of what is on the menu.

I am finding myself more and more inspired by the 70’s. I bought the skirt in Berlin a couple of years back but I don’t think I’ve ever worn it. With my new addiction, mixing blue with brown, this skirt goes perfectly with my new bag.

About yellow pit stains: This tank is one that have been bothering me. I bought a box of Vanish Oxy Action despite that the commercials make me crazy. Surprisingly enough it worked. I haven’t worn this tank for a few years, but now it’s all white again.

Skirt: Secondhand, Berlin
Tank: Bik Bok
Necklace: H&M (I was sick of both gold and owls, but it somehow made it’s way back to me.)
Bag: Secondhand, Den Røde Tråd
Shoes: Secondhand, ebay

I messed up the colors in the picture trying to bring out the brown and blue better – sorry! Plus the skirt isn’t pink or purple as it may seem, it has blue, red and white stripes.

I Can’t Wait for Fall

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines

I spent the morning flipping through old scrapbooks remembering past seasons. Each season has it’s own feeling. I remember the good things that happened and the overall state of my life. I remember the first cold days, the dark nights with candles and hot chocolate, running around flea markets searching for the perfect items, dressing up for having coffee with friends, the first snow… Fall is such a magical time. After looking at the old cutouts all these feelings of expectation started to swell. I wonder what this fall will be like. All of a sudden I have hundreds of butterflies flapping around in my stomach. I can’t wait! Here are some of the old favorites that still make my heart beat a little faster. Starting at 2002, many of these inspire me this very day.

Roundup: Shoes

Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Shoes, Trend Alerts

No wonder I am a shoe person – I had twice as many posts about shoe trends for fall than I thought. Here are what I think are the most important ones.

Ankle boots

These are my favorites, especially the ones with lacing. All kinds of ankle boots are right though, the ones with higher shaft than these too. I’ve already seen tons of these in stores and there seems to be a focus on shoes that look like you bought them in a thrift store. That’s good cause finding good boots secondhand isn’t easy.

Knee high boots

If you’re going for some regular boots, go for a pair that is as classic as possible. The round toe is still it and good colors are brown, cognac and black. Shoes like this will last you a long time, at least if you get them in leather.

Pumps

The good old pumps are back. I mostly get my pumps secondhand; there are a lot of them and I find it easier to find a good shape.

Thick socks in shoes

These are maybe not the best examples, but this season you can wear your summer shoes a little longer in to fall than usual. Get a pair of knitted socks and they’ll help you keep warm longer.

Patent leather

Maybe you thought patent leather was a fad, but it’s still here with us. Unless you’re madly in love with the material you shouldn’t spend a lot of money on this. A nice pair of patent leather pumps is usually easy to find secondhand at a low price.

Leopard

Leopard is everywhere this season and if you get a pair of shoes in the print you can add a little something to the outfit without going all the way.

Ankle strap

These are just a little observation I made; tons of shoes with ankle straps. Not my thing usually cause I find the strap uncomfortable (I have fat ankles).
