I don’t know if it’s the weather or if it’s me but I don’t have my normal urge of dressing up all the time. It’s back to a very simple outfit. I’m just happy to finally have an excuse to wear my arm warmers.

I think it was yesterday I watched a rerun of Sex and the City where I noticed Carrie wearing a butterfly belt like those I blogged about this spring, only this was gigantic. Suddenly the old ones looked small. Today I went into a secondhand store called Trabant and there they were - gigantic butterfly belts. The belt is 4″ wide and the buckle is over 6″ wide. I had to have one. For those of you that live in the area - they still have more left - also in pink. Butterflies may seem like a bad idea now that fall is around the corner, but Alexander McQueen seemed to think differently. In the fall collection there were a lot of butterflies. We’ll support any idea that makes fashion a little more free of silly rules.

Since skinny jeans are (sadly) predicted to leave the trend scene in the near future, it’s nice to have a few ways of updating the look. So far I’ve mostly worn my skinny jeans tucked into boots during fall/winter. Even though I still like that look, I want other alternatives. Ankle boots is one way to go. An other is thick socks in shoes as Oslostil took a picture of a while back. This is genius. Many designers used thick socks in summery shoes for a fall look. While some of them took it a little far for my taste, this girl has managed to do it just right. As soon as I got my socks from Sock Dreams (I ordered more than the scrunchable thigh highs) I’ll be running around town looking like this myself.
