Clearing Clutter
Filed in: Fashion
Yesterday I cleaned out the storage room that belongs to the apartment. Even though I did this half a year ago and thought I had done a pretty decent job, I ended up keeping just one third of what was in there. A lot of this was clothes.
Today I thought I’d clean out my closet. A while back I did the same thing so I didn’t think I would find much get rid of, but I ended up getting rid of several bags of clothes. Even my boyfriend, who hates that I have so much stuff, looked at the pile and went “Are you really sure about this?”
I go by the rule that I keep what I love and use, the rest goes. A new philosophy has made it’s way to me. I believe that to make place for new things in my life I have to get rid of something old. It’s like to get a chance at your dream job you will have to give up your current job. So I’m clearing all my clutter. In addition I believe that you have a responsibility for everything you own and if there’s too much and it’s too messy it will affect the rest of your life. Like everything I kept because I spent too money on it. I never wore it, but since it was so expensive it was hard to get rid of. Every time I looked at those things it made me feel bad. I understood that to lose the bad feeling I had to get rid of all the crap.
Afterwards I felt so great. I thought that getting rid of this much would be scary, but it isn’t. I don’t think I’ll miss a single ting of what I threw out.

the funnny thing is when you do it, you feel quite bad, but then again you hardly ever miss those things. well, I dont at least. but the things I throw are usually outwashed HM/CUBUS/broken/outworn/outwashed stuff…

I feel so good when getting rid of stuff. I just love chucking it into a trash bag and seeing new space in my closet, dresser.

Everything is going to charity, don’t worry! It’s actually way too much to take pictures of and sell here. Since I have little money and hardly ever give something to charity I like to think that this is a way I can contribute. :)
Fashion.faux.pas, exactly, a lot of washed out stuff. I thought that if I keep it I’ll never buy something better. Like a dirty old washed out white shirt I got rid of. I’ve never had the motivation to get a nice one until now.
Suzy, it feels great! :) And now I’ve made more space for Vintage Amore stuff. ;)

It is really refreshing to get rid of things that you rarely wear or only wear out of guilt. I love going thru and really evaluating the last time I wore something and how often I’ve worn it in the past year; that really gives me the perspective to get rid of things.

[…] Filed in: Fashion, ShoppingOk, so I´m not perfect. I´ve been going on and on about how I´ve gotten a more relaxed view on shopping after my clean-up, but today I experienced that I can still make unnecessary buys. To my defense all these things make me very happy. […]
