Rings

Things are rarely quite how I remember them. Fashion Files lead me to Mary-Kate and Ashley´s blog which lead me to the picture above. The rings she´s wearing made me think about how I used to wear tons of rings on all my fingers like ten years ago. I had a ring collection I was very proud of and that I loved a lot. The picture inspired me to find them again and maybe put together a similar look. I found my box of rings and things but was very disappointed. First of all there weren´t as many rings as I remembered. Secondly they were hardly as nice as I thought. Some of them are ugly plastic rings or rings in some sort of metal that has lost it´s color. Some of these rings are of great value to me though. The cameo ring I´ve inherited from my grandma. It´s too big to even fit my thumb, she was a hard worker, but it means a lot to me. The gold ring with a ruby was given to me by my mom. It was her engagement ring to my dad. The silver flower power ring is also from my mom and it´s a ring that she got from her parents when she was a teenager. The silver ring with the big black stone is a gift from my dad and is a ring that he used to wear when he was younger. The gold butterfly ring is one I used to wear when I was little. All in all most of these rings has a meaningful story to them, but for the Olsen look I need to get some new ones.

Like your rings :). I can’t wear much rings, because my fingers are too small :(. Lately I’m totally in to the outfits of Ashley Olsen, they give me so much inspiration!

You are fortunate to have rings with such sentimental value. Some of those rings would make great ‘necklaces’!

It\’s nice to look at your collection and to have a story behind so many of them. I like the one with the large emerald stone and some of the plain silver rings are pretty too.

Lana, I have a feeling vintage rings often are very small so check eBay!
Tiann, that´s an idea! A few of these are too small for my fingers.
Crustation, the emerald ring is too small. :( I got it from eBay, but it was another ring I was aiming for. They sent the wrong one and when it was found out they had already sold the one I wanted.

Agathe, jeg har fått flere treff fra Coutorture i dag, på den artikkelen du har der. Stemte like godt på deg jeg! ;-)

What a collection! You didn’t mention my favorite one here…the pointed one in the back. Something I’d make if I had the space. I also love the cameo ring and the large flower petal one on the left. I love rings! I lost my favorite ring a few years ago and ache whenever I think of it. It was a sculpted clear Lucite ring that was quite expensive. I also lost another ring my husband gave me as a gift from an antique store when we lived aboard. He struggled with his newly learned Chinese and charmed the proprietress into selling it at a price within our reach. It was an antique thin band of tortoise shell ring backed with delicately detailed sterling which I think was done later (still old) from the Qing dynasty. I think I purposely forgot that loss as it was painful for a long time.

I´m glad you like the rings! I used to have more, but like yours they´re missing. The ones that means the most to me are still there though. :) I checked out eBay to buy one lot of rings like the Olsen rings, but in the end it felt too impersonal. I want each ring to be specially picked.

I have this same penchant for rings. I use to have a vast collection but admit that over the years they\’ve lost their appeal. It\’s like you just want to buy new ones because the old ones have lost their spark, but yet you can\’t get rid of the old ones because you can still remember how you acquired it.
