The Turban
Filed in: Fashion, Street Fashion
Fashion Files came across this picture at Stureplan of a girl wearing a turban. I´ll let it be another from the runway to real life example as I think it looks great. The turban is almost like mine, only mine is beige. Now I want one in black too - it looks more elegant.

You know Agathe, I sort of thought about something like this the other day. What if say, the pencil eyebrow or barely there eyebrow ala marlene dietrich or other classic movie stars would come back. hmmmmmmmmm.

Haha, that would be good news for me as I have a history of plucking too much. It´s like an addiction, but it ends up looking awful.

I’m working up the nerve for a turban, but I’m not quite there yet. One problem is that I have super-curly hair and lots of it, so I don’t want curls sticking out from underneath it like Bozo hair. Any advice?

Know the problem, even though I have straight hair it´s pretty big. Can you pull it back in a ponytail without it being too bumpy? I think that is the only solution for me…

I still don’t know. I think the Marlene Dietrich connotations are wonderful, especially given the photo of this particular girl. But I still think of Hattie McDaniel and just cringe.

how does one go about wrapping a turban?

E, this one you buy wrapped, but I´ll see if I can find some sort of tutorial… :)

very glamourous…. i’d also appreciate the tutorial. and where did you purchase the pre-wrapped style?

I´ll see what I can do. I bought the pre-wrapped at a flea market several years ago. I think old ladies used to rock them. :)

I’ve been watching vintage stores for the last year for a silk turban-the one she is wearing is just fucking perfect –too the girl with the curls-I would just backcomb the shit out of my curls and let them fly out like crazy in a huge mess. My hair is short and curly, so I don’t have that option, but if it was longer I would wear it like that (as long as the top hair was slicked so as not to make the turban lumpy.
