Metallic Prom Dress

What have I done? For the past couple of years I have had this fascination for what most people would consider to be extremely ugly prom dresses. You know those from the 80’s with big bows, puffy skirts and gigantic shoulders. For the past months I have been looking for something like this in a metallic pink or blue. The rise of the metallic trend though lead to a major jump in prices and suddenly finding one for a price I was willing to pay wasn’t easy and I got really angry at myself for not going for it sooner. The other day I was browsing through eBay and I found the perfectly ugly blue metallic dress. I kept getting overbid, but determined to get my hands on it I put in a final bid yesterday evening, and this morning I woke up to the message that I had won the dress. Well, won isn’t quite what I would call it, cause even thought it’s not like I ended up paying an insanely amount of money for it, it’s money I should have spent on the wedding, or even better,- on rent. Instead it goes to purchase the ugliest dress I could find. If everything else goes wrong, I guess I just have to get married in it.

Haha, yes indeed, it is a very ugly dress, at least if you wear it like the picture to the right (only the dress). If you wear it like Iekeliene, it is totally glam-trashy fabulous!

I agree with Renee, if you wear it like Iekeliene, it can work in a really funky glam way. I like the vest look with the harsh metallic, it’s a nice comprise. Geran Ford has a really cute bedford vest that could work at bluefly W3Schools!

Renèe, with shipping it ended on $64 which is way more than I usually spend on secondhand clothing, at least when I buy them online, not to mention when I´m already digging deep into my money for rent.
Jaimie, I do love the dress even though it´s ugly, so I bet I´ll find some way to wear it. ;) Iekeliene sets a good example.

oh my god, homecoming dance 1989, my best friend wore an emerald-green version of that dress, i wore a red off the shoulder thing, we both had black nylons and black opera gloves and lots of hairspray and make-up. we looked like hookers.
i like how Iekeliene Stange is wearing her dress… it’s super cute, and not at all lady of the night-ish. it’s tacky but in a fun and playful way. it’s nice.

You should try ezsniper. Put in your maximum bid and it’ll bids for you seconds before the auction ends. I use it all the time and I usually win. You will most likely also get it at a lower price as you’re not at “bid war” with someone.

Go home Agathe, the dress is FABULOUS! Everyone’s eyes are gonna be on you, while all the bo-ooring conservative chics in black can suck on their drinks alone in the corner.. (totally worth a rent..)

jeg har noe lignende hesligfint fra bruktbutikk i berlin. den har korsettliv med forskjellige prikker i metallicfarger, svart strutteskjørt og en diger sløyfe :D og man banker alle andre på feks. nyttårsaften i sånne kjoler.

yeah I know that feeling of spending money on a whim and then realizing you could have spent it on something more important and worth while!

Agathe, Agathe, Agathe…let me just say in 20 years time you will look back at all your photos and you will have the best memories in terms of the way you dress, i’m sure your kids will love them too…you will defintely kick butt in that dress…you go girl, i wish i was bold enough to wear it too :)

Well I personally adore it. Love the bows and puffy-ness of these “ugly” prom dresses. I’d wear it!
So, forget about the rent. I would have gotten the dress from my rent-money too!

dress is cute but if u dont have skinny legs u look fat and if u wear leggings u loook like a wanna be unless u find silver metallic leggings then that wud be SUPER H-O-T!!

that dress is SO pretty, i have a thing for ugly dresses too =) haha, i think you can pull it off, as long as you have boobs, unlike the girl in the pink dress:)
