Vintage Jewelry

I´ve come across some vintage jewelry lately. I got the lion belt last weekend, so it was quite funny to find the matching earrings this weekend, even though they are both too similar and different at the same time to wear together. I haven´t quite figured out what the cherub thing is. The cherubs have pins on the back, but the chains are kind of strange and nothing really makes any sense.

Det virker som om engle-smykket er noe man kan feste på brystet, som i en skjorte eller kjoleåpning. Fin da!=)

I think you wear the cherub thing on a blazer/cardigan/button up. Pin one angle on on side of the shirt and one another on the other? I don’t know, but I like it!

they are righ about the cherub. it is for cartigan/sweaters, you clip it to each side of the neckline, and its almost like a faux necklace. you could always use it as a cloak fastener as well.
by the way, they are really easy to make by attaching a chain or cord either to two matching pins, or to a pair of clip on earrings.
i have been buying a lot of lion jewelry lately as well:)

I know what you guys mean, that’s what I thought too, but the thing is that it’s not supposed to hang the way it does on the picture. The chains twist, so for it to hang right one of the cherubs has to be upside-down and that’s what’s doesn’t make sense…

maybe a connector of sorts?? its not a watch fob or a fan connector. maybe it was to chain something to you?? i know in the victorian era they would carry smelling salts with them.
can you tell by the pin holders what era it was created? by looking at the styles of the time, you might be able to find out. ill help research it, im curious as to its usage myself

looking at the cherubs, i think they would look really cute attached at the waist on a pair of pants.

I think the cherubs are an oldfashioned sweater clip, you can use it to keep a cardigan or other jacket closed in a really cute and stylish way:)

Strange that the cherubs don’t hang right for a sweater clip…that’s what I would have guessed too. I like the idea of them on the waist of a pair of pants.

aye.. could they be sweater connectors for those open sweaters?

Is it possible to have a jeweler reattach the chain to one of the cherubs in a way that it won’t twist and be upside down? I love all the vintage jewelery you bought - the lion door knocker earrings are so interesting and unique!

Gud, så morsomt! En venn av meg har akkurat det samme beltet, funnet på en second-hand store i Bergen. Det er stilig!

Vintage jewelry is the best, even if you can’t figure out what it’s for.

Glamourbibliotekaren, alt dette er fra Birkelunden. Øredobbene ble kjøpt av en jente som solgte vesker og smykker ganske rimelig. 40,- for vesker og 20,- for øredobber. Hun hadde mye fint!
Gigicaron, yeah, it’s kind of strange, I really can’t figure it out. But nobody notices if I do hang them like this.
Annie, probably. Maybe I could even do it my self, I’ll have to have a closer look at it.
Kine, de hadde faktisk to like de jeg kjøpte det av på markedet. Har aldri sett noe sånt før så lurer på hvor de kommer fra…

Hi. The cherubs are a decoration for a blouse - you pin one on each collar. Looks great!
