Tooth Ache
I´ve had tooth ache for the past three days, and while soothing the pain with pain killers until now, I am starting to realize that what I really need is a visit to the dentist. I just don´t have the time! (Or the money for that matter.) I felt so sorry for myself that I stopped by a secondhand shop on my way home from work, and I got this mini dress for $7.

Miss EsTher, I actually thought of her outfit, but I can´t quite remember how it looked like!

Super picture again, with your bf taking the picture also visible in the window behind you!

Not in a bad way or anything, but you are looking taller and thinner with every picture. The minidress looks SO good with your long thin legs. Great find.

Very sharp mini, great find! Sorry about the toothache, sweetie, those things can hurt like hell. Hope it’s better soon.

You should stop buying clothes for awhile and go to the dentist. Judging by the pictures of you smiling, your teeth are in bad shape. In that picture of you with the stripper, you can really see how yellow you have let the front ones get. If you aren’t going to fix them, maybe you should just try to smile less in pictures. Good luck.

hi Agathe, dress looks great. Just a small bit of advice as i’m a dental hygienist! Go to the dentist, the pain will only get worse and you could end up with a bigger bill and more problems than if you sort it out quickly. Hope it gets sorted xx
July 27th, 2007 at 8:00 pm
and btw, your smile is absolutely fine and not yellow. That post by Nola is really rather rude.
July 27th, 2007 at 9:31 pm
Nola, do i sense a tinge of envy for Agathe’s huge amounts of lovely clothes in your comment?
July 27th, 2007 at 11:44 pm
I love that i can see your fiance (that’s him right?) in the background
and i love the outfit even more.
July 28th, 2007 at 1:52 am
Nola is probably some unattractive chick with a lumpy body and is probably extremely envious of you because she has a hard time finding clothes that fit her for the amazing deals that you get. I know this because she is clearly making up the stuff about your smile. You look beautiful and seem very nice!

Dress is fabulous.
In times of emergency with tooth aches,a wad of cotton with a teensy dab of clove oil on it put where you have the toothacje helps.Too much and your mouth goes numb so be careful!

It may just be my obsession with all things shiny but that dress is amazing! You have such good luck (skill?) with finding clothes.
And you have many fans, I hope you won’t let any undeserved negativity get to you!
July 28th, 2007 at 7:57 am
um.
i think i love you.

Agathe does look fabulous in this dress and I probably should have mentioned that in my first comment to make it less harsh. Why is it that when someone is brutally honest, they get pegged as being jealous? I’m just trying to help her out before her teeth start looking like Austen Powers! As for Catherine’s comment, I’m not fat or unnattractive, but I’m sure the overweight “lumpy” girls that read your comment now feel a little bit worse about themselves…nice work!
July 29th, 2007 at 5:51 am
As far as I know, Agathe has good eyesight and therefore can see her own teeth in her own mirror every day. I doubt that a total stranger’s opinion on their appearance is particularly enlightening or helpful to her.
July 29th, 2007 at 8:54 am
Nola, do us all a favor and stop posting your irrelevant comments. This blog is about fashion. I’m sure Agathe doesn’t need your “help”.
July 29th, 2007 at 9:54 am
sweetie, as a reader of your blog and also a dentist
i hope you can see someone about your tooth soon..because unfortunately, it only gets worse and more $$$ to fix the longer you leave it.
in the meantime, it may help to take something with ibuprofen in it (anti-inflammatory…available over the counter)..although not recommended if you have asthma.
July 29th, 2007 at 2:16 pm
Nola, ur choice of words on your first comment made you sound envious of Agathe unlike Jessica’s comment as above this comment. Now Jessica sounds like someone who is genuinely concerned as a reader.
July 30th, 2007 at 1:31 am
I am an average-size girl myself, and would love to be able to wear some of the stuff Agathe wears, but instead of feeling sorry for myself and letting that stew into jealousy, I seek out outfits that look good on me and boost my self-confidence that way.
As for jealousy being the motive? Frankly, I’ve felt it before, as we all have, towards those that might have more talent or luck than we do. Those are the only times I have ever felt compelled to post nasty notes on strangers’ blogs–when I am jealous of their good fortune or talent.
I can imagine how goading it must be to read about Agathe’s toothache and then to see her rocking a teeny-tiny little sequined dress like the luckiest girl in the world. Maybe it made you think she was just complaining for attention. But she’s not the luckiest girl in the world–just very talented at fashion, lovely and generous with her observations and tips.
Anyway, that’s the last I will post about this–I don’t want to hijack the comments anymore. Whether my analysis of Nola is spot on or not, she’s clearly an idiot and we’ve probably stroked her withered little ego more than we should have.
July 30th, 2007 at 8:15 am
I guess I should join the discussion that has been going on while I was away. The thing is that I don’t have completely white teeth and I never did. If Nola had looked a little closer she would also have been able to comment on how I am missing two of my front teeth or how I have a broken tooth. These things used to be an issue for me. None of us are perfect and somewhere along the line I realized that all we can really change is how we feel about ourselves; it really makes all the difference. I do appreciate the advice from Jessica, that I can actually use, but I must admit that I didn’t either take Nola’s comment as well meant advice. I’d have to leave behind a hundred of $7 dollar dresses to afford the dentist…
I won’t debate around the reason for Nola’s comment, but I’d like to say something about what Catherine wrote. I admire someone who can be so honest, especially since jealousy is a hard feeling to admit, even just to yourself. And I admire someone who instead of acting upon it by trying to pull others down rather look into themselves. I think we all can learn something from her as I think we all feel that nasty feeling once in a while!
Thanks all of you wonderful readers for your comments!

Agathe! I just wanted to let u know I am missing one of my tooth as well, but its somewhere near the end of my teeth so its not obvious. I knew my boyfriend was perfect for me when he also had the same tooth missing at the same place! Lol. I think your lil missing tooth makes you even more stylish and makes you unique and im sure there’s more of us “cool” people in the world with missing tooth! Life is so boring if we all had perfect teeth hey! But i do hope u go see a dentist soon, my tooth was lost as I requested to extract it out completely since it was rotting (how gross haha) and didn’t want to fill it up (at least for now). I’ve been taking care of my teeth since! :-) It is really worth it to go see a dentist. Most of em are really nice. Even though I spent loads for my root canal, extraction and cleaning, I have to say its money well-spent. Good luck agathe!
Lots of love,
Cordelia xoxo

the dress is delightful and so’s your smile. love this blog, i really like how you wear such diverse looks but they always seem to look very ‘you’. to me, that’s great style.
the day after seeing this post and sighing at the gorgeous gold dress, a friend i hadn’t seen in ages gave me a birthday present… of a very similar dress! [similar cut, slightly different neckline and metallic tone]. maybe she read my mind. what a happy girl i am!
July 31st, 2007 at 6:07 pm
I sympathize! That dress is a great alternative to the dentist.

What a dress! Agathe strikes again!
I don’t know if this is helpful or not - but if you absolutely can’t find the money to pay the dentist, maybe you could sell some of the clothes you’re tired of?
Just a thought. In any event - please don’t continue trying to treat toothache yourself by administering $7 dresses to it! A dress only kills the pain for a little while, but teeth are forever… or something like that.
