Leather Dress

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

It turns out that the leather dress at H&M is sold out and what I thought was a garment too out there for most Norwegians really isn´t. Who are these people who bought it before I even saw it in the shops? Even though the sales people comforted me and told they hoped they´d get in more of it, I figured I had to go on a little mission. I had to make the $10 leather dress I got on eBay fit. It was originally so snug that I could not even close the zipper at the hips. But leather expands, I only wasn´t aware of how quickly. When I first put it on I couldn´t breathe, let alone sit. Now I can do both pretty comfortably and I´ve only worn it for a little while. I will still keep an eye open at H&M cause that dress has a more conservative cut which goes well with the material.

Floral Dress

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

I´m not really in the mood of having my picture taken today, but oh well… I am waiting for that leather dress H&M is supposed to get in and stop by there once in a while. Maybe it´s already sold out? I do have a leather dress, but it´s a little snug. Guess what perfume I am wearing today? I figured every day is a special occasion as long as you make it one.

Coco Mademoiselle

Filed in: Beauty, Celebs, Designers, Fashion

coco mademoiselle

I got a package from Chanel today due the new fragrance Coco Mademoiselle. A 7,5 ml sample of the perfume came in a beautiful box with pictures of Keira Knightley who fronts the campaign in with a CD containing photos, behind the scenes shots and more. While I’ve never been a perfume girl and all the perfumes I own are gifts from former boyfriends, Coco Mademoiselle is perfection. It’s ladylike, but not in that old lady way. It’s heavy and fresh at the same time. It’s the kind of perfume I would never wear with jeans and sneakers, it’s one of those perfumes that requires an evening gown and a fur stole. I’ll put it in the best way I can: It’s Chanel. Ahh, if I only owned a beautiful red dress like the one Keira is wearing in the ads I would put it on and spray Coco Mademoiselle all over. Instead I´ll save it for a nice occasion.

Threadless Sale

Filed in: Fashion, Sale Alerts & Discounts

nerds 4 ever threadless

Just a small note to let you know that Threadless have a back to school sale going on an that all tees are $10. One of you readers asked me yesterday whether I wear my stripper heels and what not at work, but the truth is that I tend to go for jeans and t-shirts at work, maybe spice it up with some accessories, and rather change into something else once I get home. Many of my outfits would both be too extravagant and too unpractical for my workplace. For that reason it’s crucial for me to have a good selection of t-shirts and that’s where Threadless come in handy, even though they used to be much better than what they are now. I guess it’s kind of unpractical to wear two different outfits ever single weekday, but at the same time I get to wear a lot more dresses and heels than I would otherwise. And it’s been a habit of mine for so many years that I doubt I’ll ever change. So it’s off to shop for tees!

H&M Shoes

Filed in: Shoes, Shopping

hm silver shoes

I did a silly thing today. I stopped by H&M and I noticed these silver shoes. “I don´t have any silver shoes” I thought to myself and got them. The first thing I saw when I got in the door at home was three pairs of silver shoes. So I figured I´d return them. Then I tried them on and now I don´t want to part with them!

H&M has gotten better and better at shoes since they started making them. Whether the quality is satisfactory or not I don´t know, but I´m at least getting the chance to test it out now. I´m guessing that it´s at least not bad compared to the price. What annoys me a little is that they don´t come with a shoe box. I love shoe boxes. In the back you can see the box that came with my Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes, I´ve just upgraded it a little.

New Beauty Favorites

Filed in: Beauty

I wrote a post about my beauty favorites almost two years ago, but since then I’ve come across a few new favorites. While I then was a student and mostly bought cheap brands, I now put a little extra money in it, and most of the time it’s worth it.

estee lauder

I don’t use foundation on a daily basis, this is mostly for nights out or when I want to look my absolute best. After doing a little investigation I ended up with Estèe Lauder Individualist Natural Finish Makeup. It´s a little darker than my skin tone, something I’ve avoided in the past, but this one evens out so nicely and the result is great without looking unnatural.

From the same brand I also got a primer, the Estèe Lauder Skin Tone Perfector. It’s a base that you put on before the foundation. It evens out the skin tone and makes the makeup last longer and makes it easier to apply. I tested the product on one of my hands to compare with the other, and it really works. Those areas that are a little red get toned down and it gives a nice glow prior to applying the rest of the makeup.

ysl

It was a friend of mine who introduced me to YSL Radiant Touch. I’ve had a hard time finding concealers before, and no matter what I bought, they always seemed magically disappear within no time. After testing hers I tried it out once more in the store along with a bunch of other things, and after wiping it all of with a tissue, the YSL Radiant Touch was the only one that stuck even then. Since then it’s become one of the most valued beaty products I own.

Since I was already shopping from YSL I also got their compact powder, YSL Poudre Compacte. Here I have several favorites, and I’ve used Estèe Lauder for a long time, so the main reason why I got this is because of the nice box. The powder is super smooth and looks very natural.

Among my old favorites is Max Factor Eyeshadow Earth Spirits which I´ve used almost daily for nearly ten years. I have eye shadows from Chanel, Rimmel, Clinique and many more, but it beats them all. It´s super easy to apply and it lasts for ever. I usually apply it with a moist brush for even better result.

Rings and Things

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

Ok, so it might be too early to start wearing fur hats just yet, but it is pretty cold outside today. I always seem to feel that those days between hot summer and cold winter are too few. Every year I plan tons of outfits with dresses and skirts combined with gloves and scarves, but I hesitate too long and suddenly it´s too cold to wear gloves without a jacket on top. This year it has to change. I am not going to feel embarrassed wearing warm clothes before everyone else. Some people are even sporting shorts today and it seems most Norwegians don´t want to let summer go. I however love fall the most out of all the seasons, but it´s also the season that seems to pass me by without even noticing it.

Emblems

Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Secondhand, Shopping, Trend Alerts

Balenciaga, among others, placed emblems on their jackets, often on double breasted ones. Instead of looking for the perfect jacket, that would go out on date anyway, I got an emblem brooch for a dollar at the flea market yesterday. When I got home I remembered that I had bought something similar at at shop called Bik Bok many years ago. I guess the two B´s in the middle stand for the name of the shop, but an ex of mine thought it meant Baron Blood, which sounds way cooler so I choose to believe that´s what it means. I´m going to place these on the military jacket that I´ve worn a couple of times lately, and perhaps on my black double breasted wool coat from H&M with gold buttons.

I didn´t find any detail shots of the emblems at Balenciaga, but at least you get a hint of it in this photo.

These are the two that I´ll be using for the look.

Headscarves

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines

I don´t know how many times I´ve written about headscarves although I for some reason almost never wear them. Every single time I flip through a magazine and notice a scarf I stop and have an extra look, the same happens when I look through the collections of the big designers. As it´s more of a fall thing since they can be a little uncomfortable on hot summer days, I may at least try to get better at wearing them the next few months. I picked up the latest issue of Costume today and in one of the photo shoots the scarf was used in pretty much all of the pictures. A lady like hat is an important accessory this coming season, so I loved the scarf under the hat the most. It just looks so classy! When looking at these pictures I realized that the 40´s inspired and more lady like looks are going to be just as big for me this fall as all the leather and latex.

I hate that time in between seasons when I´m starting to feel tired of the current season while the coming season hasn´t hit the shops yet. During that time I can stare into my closet for ages without coming up with anything to wear. Now that fall is right around the corner, the air is feeling a little chillier and the shops are starting to get filled up with new items, I get butterflies in my stomach. So while I wait, I spend my time flipping through magazines, looking for yet more items to crave for. At least these looks can be pulled off without spending much money. Also notice the little brooch dressing up the scarf in the third picture. An easy way to make it look extra special.

Mushrooms and Blueberries

Today we went into the deep forest of Norway to pick mushrooms and also ended up getting some blueberries. It was nice to get away for some fresh air away from all the tall buildings and traffic.

Shopping

Filed in: Accessories, Fashion, Handbags, Secondhand, Shopping

It´s my first time shopping in a couple of weeks and I had nearly forgotten how much people that´s in the city on a Saturday. I was completely exhausted afterwards, but here´s at least what I got. First a Chanel fanny pack for $25. It´s fake though. The lining is leather and the quality seems nice, but at a closed look you can tell that the shell is in fake leather. I figure a fake is allowed since I got it secondhand anyway.

The silver gloves is another secondhand buy while the scarf (yay, I found one) is from Gina Tricot and the beanie is from Indiska.

I also got a pair of pleather shorts from Gina Tricot.

And at last two dresses that I got on sale at Gina Tricot (you´ll get to see them properly once I wear them) and a secondhand bag. Dresses in shiny materials will be so nice with rougher materials like wool and knits.

Knits

Filed in: Accessories, Designers, Fashion, Trend Alerts

There are two things I want badly these days as fall is getting closer, one is a huge grey knitted scarf and one is a grey knitted cardigan. Or actually cable knits of any sort.

I think the knitted cardigan is the hardest one to find. It should be easy, but simple things happen to be tricky. They either have the wrong fit, the wrong size or the wrong color. I have probably been looking for one for years.

I love the whole bundled up look. It seems as everything should be pulled completely up under your chin and the scarves just can´t get big enough. I keep imagining myself wearing a knitted scarf with a nice dress to dress it down. It will be my mission tomorrow to find one that will work.

I will also be looking for any kind of cable knits. I wish I was better at knitting and I would knit myself a sweater.

Weekend!

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

Ahh, after months of stress in one way or the other, I finally have a weekend completely without plans! Actually, I do have plans, but none that I have to go through with, and it feels great. I´m just going to relax, go shopping and eat great food.

The Wedding

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits, Wedding

It seems as though there were too many coincidences for us not to end up as a couple. We both felt like the universe had placed us together and no matter if we tried to fight it, it wouldn’t work. Exactly six months after we first met we got married.

I was nervous before the big day. You know how you can imagine all kinds of disasters, like tripping down the church floor or dropping the ring. The biggest issue of them all was the weather. It was pouring the days before. Strangely enough, when we got up Saturday morning, the sun was shining! It must have been the universe playing games with us again cause the next day it was pouring again like it had for weeks. And luckily I didn’t fall or lose the ring either, everything was perfect.

I had a friend of mine do the hair and makeup, my mom made the dress and the flowers, my mother in law did the decorations, my father in law caught the scallops that we had as starters, my husband’s best man brought along his band… In other words, it was a very personal wedding, all our closest ones had each of them done something each to make this day what it was.

Since we both love the sea it became the theme for the day. The party was in an old boat house, there were sea food as starters, the decorations were made out of local flowers that grow by the sea, the table cards were little lighthouses, we slept in a sail boat during our wedding night…

I won´t be rambling on too much about the day, but it truly was everything I had ever dreamed about and more! I haven´t got many pictures from the party yet. Hilde and Jan where our photographers for the night, and I will have more as soon as they´re ready, but here are some to start with… (They did a fantastic job by the way!)

Here we are with the hair and make-up done, before we got our outfits on.

We took some fun pictures inside the house where we spent the hours before we went to the church. It was the craziest old house with all kinds of kitschy things. We were supposed to do these old fashioned, a little serious photos for these, which wasn´t a problem, cause at that time we were both a little nervous.

agathe kristoffer wedding

We didn´t know anything about what car that would pick us up outside the church, so we were both surprised by what showed up.

And here´s a photo my mother in law took outside the church just after we had gotten married.

And one that isn´t all that nice, but shows more of the back of the dress.

None of these shows the dress to the full, like the lacey part at front and the laces along the hem. When I get more pictures you´ll be able to see more of the details.
