The Dye Project

Filed in: DIY, Fashion

I got a Zara dress on a yard sale for almost nothing a couple of months ago. I loved the cut of it, but the problem was that the white was too crisp for me and it had an ink stain that wouldn´t come off. I planned to dye it but it took me all until today until I finally got it done. I chose a navy blue so that it would be suitable for both fall and spring. The colors are a little off on both images, especially the blue as it ended up more black in the pictures and I tried to bring the blue back in.

I also threw in a sweater that was just too pink for me and it came out nice too only in a slightly lighter shade. Now knowing how easy this was (I thought it was rather tricky) I will use this option more often instead of throwing out old stuff.

As I predicted, the Vogue Italia cover would be my inspiration for the evening. I can of course not measure up to Vogue, but at least I tried making the look my own.

Gloves and Jewelry

Filed in: Accessories, Fashion, Jewelry, Magazines

I was supposed to get my hands of the September issue of Vogue Italia today, but it was delayed so I got the old one instead. What immediately drew my attention was the cover (of course) and the fashion editorial that the cover shot came from. Gloves, and especially the long ones, are just as big this year as they were last year. Then I got my hands on two pairs of long leather gloves, one pair in black and one pair in brown, that I see are back at H&M this year by the way. One of the things I loved in the Vogue shoot was how they had dressed their gloves with jewelry. Especially the big rings, but also the bracelets. It´s such an easy way to update last years look a little.

The cover shot will probably end up being an inspiration for tonight’s outfit. I already had the hair, just not as extreme, and I felt like wearing my gloves again after seeing them plastered all over the magazine.

Balenciaga

balenciaga fall winter 2007 2008

I´ve never been big on ethnic inspired fashion which is probably why I never paid much attention to this fall´s Balenciaga collection. But sometimes things things lie in the back of your mind and affects the way you think even when you´re not aware of it. There´s only one thing from the Balenciaga collection that I have been aware of that I liked, the blazers with the emblems that I wrote about a few days ago. I made my own twist on the jacket and when wearing it today I threw on a couple of scarves with it without really thinking. Both with an ethnic kind of look. After a little while I realized it was the Balenciaga collection that had lead me towards combining the clothes that way.

Out on my regular Saturday shopping I came across a skirt that I liked and when I picked it up I thought that it would be perfect to what I was already wearing. Why? It had an ethnic twist to it, so it was Balenciaga again that played tricks on me. I guess I just have to admit after all that the Balenciaga fall collection will have a much bigger influence on how I dress than I first thought.
