Trousers
Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Trend Alerts
I want a pair of well tailored trousers. I have almost not worn anything but dresses this summer, but the colder it gets, the more tempting it gets to go for something a little warmer. In my 25 years on this earth, I have never come across anything that can measure up with my imaginary trousers, the main problem being that they´re too short. And the few times they aren´t too short, something else is wrong with them; my butt looks horrible in them or they just don´t go with any kind of shoes. Basically, one of the reasons as for why I wear as much dresses as I do, is that I find pants the most difficult garment of all.
But maybe there isn´t anything such as the perfect pair of trousers, or maybe I am just not a pants kind of girl? Or maybe what I need is a change of attitude? Here are a couple of examples of what I do want, not too baggy and not too short, not too masculine and not too feminine. Just plain old trousers, most preferably in a tweed kind of material. I probably already have 10 pairs of pants almost like this in one way or another, but they´re just one the ones, so they end up just sitting there. Maybe this year things will turn around?

I’m rather tall and have fairly skinny, long legs. Finding trousers/jeans that fit is so difficult.
But a pair of slightly slouchy mens-style trousers is so dang sexy to wear! It’s worth looking.

hi,
getting your own clothes tailored is fun.
i recently moved to shanghai, and am now going to a local fabric market with designs that i find online or in magazines every few weeks. you pay about 50 euros for a good tailored suit, 60 for a good wintercoat.
and less for dresses or tops..
they got all kinds of fabrics there too, except not a big of vararity of nice prints.
i have been looking for images for pants like you describe them too, if you come across good pics of your imaginary trousers, post them! - or email me, maybe i can get them made for you here ;)

i feel the same! since i’m a little stocky and have a darn huge arse, trousers and jeans which flatter me are either very hard to find or rather expensive. i’m still on the lookout for those perfect pants though…

I know what you mean! It’s horrible how it’s hardest to find the very basics of a wardrobe (a perfect white shirt or a simple pair of trousers.)
Good luck on your search!

I have the same predicament with wide-legged (also preferably tweed…ish) trousers. Never anything that fits perfectly every way. Trousers… buh.

Proper fitting pants are just so hard to find I think. Something is always wrong, so you give up and buy them or just dont buy any all. They always look wrong, but I too want to find a well suited and fitting pair. Maybe the trick is spending more for a nicely tailored pair from a big name that I know will fit well and last long.

Comforting to hear there are more who have this problem!
Eli, I’m thinking of going a bit up in price on this one!

Dear God finally someone that thinks like me!

don’t give up! i never thought i’d find the perfect pair but magically i did this summer. i haven’t gotten a chance to wear them much (still much too hot) but it’s so worth the search. have you tried on men’s pants? that might help the length problem.
