Yellow Accessories

Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Trend Alerts

I haven´t been nearly as absent from the blog as my mind has been from the world. It´s been some of the most stressful days of my life lately, and not really about being busy, but about taking big steps. We´ve been apartment scouting lately and when we finally found our dream apartment it was a nerve wrecking time until we actually got it. Yesterday we landed it and in a month we´re moving. Right now I am completely exhausted though. Nights of no sleep, days of just staring at the phone… But that´s not really the point of this post, I just wanted to let you know why I haven´t been writing much.

What I actually wanted to write about were yellow accessories. I love the bright yellow with the prints in the top three pictures. I love the hats, the bags and the shoes. I yellow with gray as in the middle picture. I love the yellow socks. I love yellow with ethnic inspired looks. What I mean to say is that yellow accessories will be one of my staples next spring.

Busy Monday

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

Busy day at work, stressful day at home. I thought setting the clock back an hour to winter time would buy me some time as for shooting outdoors, but it got dark earlier today than ever. So it´s another boring shot, but I´ll try to find better ways to do them.

Cleaning

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

Usually I spend Saturdays shopping but today I am cleaning the apartment. One of the biggest jobs is to go through old clothes and stuff to give away. So far I´ve collected 7 full trash bags. I do this once in a while and I am just as surprised every time as for how much I manage to store in this tiny place.

Sponsored Review: Levi´s Capital E Low Slim Boot

Filed in: Sponsored Reviews

levis capital e swank low slim boot

You may have noticed the Levi´s ad to the left on the blog. Due to the campaign I got to test out a pair; the Levi´s {Capital E} Swank Low Slim Boot. {Capital E} was apparently established in 1936 and the E symbolizes original and the finest craftsmanship. For the past years I have worn nothing but skinny jeans. After my first pair I´ve just continued to wear them as I feel they suit my figure better. So I thought that boot-cut jeans would feel awfully strange, but they dont. I guess it has something to do with the fit of them, they´re not too wide at the thighs something I feel boot-cut jeans often are. They feel great on and are softer than most jeans. They´re fairly low cut so I guess that just comes down to what you like. The {Capital E} jeans come in many different shapes also high waisted, flared and skinny.

I remember my first jeans ever were a pair of Levi´s 555. I loved them to bits. I didn´t get another pair of Levi´s until a couple of years ago when I got my 571. They are soon worn to bits and pieces. I find that Levi´s seem to last longer than many jeans and they don´t lose shape as fast as some other brands. I guess the thing about jeans is that you have to find the one that gives you the best bum, that´s what great jeans are all about. OK, that´s maybe putting it a little blunt, but for most girls I know I think there´s a little truth to it.

These jeans at least fall into that great bum category, at least for my part. You can find these and many other Levi´s products on LevisStore.com. Be aware that I had to get a size down from my 571.

eBay Buys

Filed in: Fashion, Secondhand, Shoes, Shopping

I am sorry for being a little slow on posting right now. I´m very busy these days and a lot of things are going on. Hopefully I´ll have some good news to share in a while. When I have no time for shopping I´m instead looking forward to my latest eBay purchases to arrive. Today I got two.

It was a coincidence that I ended up with these shoes cause I haven´t been looking for anything like it. The thing is that I kept searching for studded shoes, and these were the only ones that came up. Not at all what I had I mind, but still I ended up getting them. They are all leather, hand sewn and very comfortable.

I have already started to think about spring and all the ethnic looks inspired me to get this sarong made out of vintage silk saris. They can be worn in a 100 different ways (you get a booklet or DVD with the purchase), and the two layers makes sure you can change between several looks. Either wear it as a long skirt or a knee length dress, or even a top. The possibilities are endless. They start at $10 and I got mine for $11 or $12. You can get them from Vintage Silk Wraps.

Picking Fights

It feels like it´s no point putting on a dress when you spend the day arguing about silly things. But the remains of the day is going to be spent in the sofa eating pizza. It´s kind of nice to do nothing useful once in a while.

Flaunt Your Belly…

Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Trend Alerts

…those of you who dare. No matter what you think of the trend, many designers seemed to go for it. I think I´ll keep my love handles to myself. But who knows, when summer is finally here, I might fall for something more subtile, like the Doo.Ri look.

Revamped Vintage

Filed in: Accessories, DIY, Fashion, Secondhand

One of the things I got this weekend was a broken chain belt with gold coins. Since it was broken I only gave a dollar for it, and since I know I´d never wear a chain belt I thought I´d use it for something completely different. The chain was turned into a spectacle chain for my new glasses and the coins were sewn onto an old scarf.

These aren´t the best images as I shot them with my web cam, but I guess you get the picture…

Glasses

Filed in: Accessories, Designers, Fashion, Trend Alerts

The geeky glasses have been around for a while and in the spring shows there were loads of them, not all necessarily geeky, but glasses nonetheless. The ones below are from Betsey Johnson, Lacoste, Rachel Comey and Luella.

I almost envy those with poor eye sight cause glasses can look so cool. My eye sight is perfect, but I did get a pair without strength from the Viktor & Rolf collection for H&M. However, for some reason I have to have a very good day to actually feel like wearing them. So I´ve been looking for something different, something that I feel good in no matter how I feel about myself. I´ve been looking for something secondhand and I came across a bunch of glasses of the sort this weekend. The only problem is that these are glasses with strength. My original idea was just to pop the lenses out, but it was harder than I thought and I am afraid of breaking them. So I´m thinking I´ll have to take them to a professional to get the lenses out and possible get new ones unless it´s too expensive. I´d only get a headache wearing them like they are now. So these are the ones I got, the top one are my favorites. I can´t wait to wear them!

Sleepy Head

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

I woke up really late this morning. I always hate when that happens, especially on weekends because I want to get out early to get all the best stuff at my favorite flea markets. I threw on what first entered my mind and run out to go thrift hunting. But sleepy head got back empty handed. I didn´t find anything. Later on I´ll show you the stuff I got yesterday though.

Revolver

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

I hardly ever go out anymore, I guess it´s a side effect of being a wife all of a sudden. Yesterday we went to this club Revolver with some friends but I got really tired and went home early. I´ve become a party pooper and enjoy sitting indoors working on little projects while dreaming of moving to and old house by the sea.

This is the only shot I got of what I was wearing, so no full outfit for this one. Even though I didn´t get to flaunt my Paraphernalia necklace to many people before I fell asleep, I loved how it made my simple black dress a little more special.

An Early Start

Filed in: Fashion

agathe benedicte charlotte

I sometimes wonder what makes some people so interested in clothes while other couldn´t care a rats ass about what they put on, even though we´re all a part of the fashion cycle in one way or another. For my part I think my mom can have had something to do with it. She loved dressing up me and my sisters in cute outfits, often clothes she had made herself. This picture is of me and my two youngest sisters, me to the far right. Later on I remember that we also wore some secondhand, which was unusual at the time. I didn´t like it then, but it must have affected me too. It´s my first entry to the world of fashion, when I still wasn´t too aware of what it really meant to me. Later on completely different factors lead me to put an extra weight on clothes in the way I expressed myself, but that´s a whole different story…

Thrift Shopping in Bøn

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

A coincidence led us to a strange thrift shop at a tiny place called Bøn. A father and son run the place in the old buildings of a closed down train station. When I asked the father whether they had open every day he just laughed and said “We don´t exactly get a lot of customers here.” The area was filled with old antlers and Christmas candles as well as old cars that they were fixing up in between visitors. At first I thought these were some strange guys that couldn´t be very up to date as to was going on in the rest of the world, but it turned out that I was quite wrong. They were very into environmental issues and also had the pleasant idea that secondhand should be cheap. The father had lived in Oslo for 30 years at the same place I live now, but he got fed up with the city. It was here I found the hat as well as a bunch of geeky glasses and some other things. Most of it for a couple of dollars each.

Friday

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

I am far from glamorous today, but I was rushing off to catch a train. Looking at these jeans from another angle than upwards down I see it´s about time to get a new pair. It has to wait until next week though cause right now I am far away from shops. Tomorrow I am going thrift shopping though and hopefully I´ll have something sweet for you then. Oh, and I don´t skate (not that I think I could fool anyone anyway). We found this board that someone had left behind. We borrowed it for a couple of minutes and then handed it to the lost and found office.
