Revamped Vintage

One of the things I got this weekend was a broken chain belt with gold coins. Since it was broken I only gave a dollar for it, and since I know I´d never wear a chain belt I thought I´d use it for something completely different. The chain was turned into a spectacle chain for my new glasses and the coins were sewn onto an old scarf.
These aren´t the best images as I shot them with my web cam, but I guess you get the picture…

Lovely use for a former chain belt, but isn’t it a bit heavy on the glasses?

Not at all really. The chain isn´t all that heavy and a lot of the weight sit on my neck anyway.

Make An Old Coat New Again From http://www.artfulwears.com!
Are you tired of your coat but it’s still perfectly beautiful? We totally understand. It’s just not practical to buy a new coat every year but we all get bored. We suggest a great scarf and hat to shake things up.
We LOVE this matching scarf and hat by Royal Plush. It’s fun, colorful, and totally unique. Dip dyed from plum to black and adorned with a great embellished peace sign. Your old coat will look new again and you will be ultimately stylish. Visit http://www.artfulwears.com for more fashion tips and hot items!

Agathe, you’ve got a pair of gorgeous lips!
I just bid on a pair of Rayban Wayfarers II (without lenses) on eBay, and I am planning to put optical lenses in them eventually.
I love how you manage to capture so many elements of the latest trends and make your style completely your own. The chain on them glasses is 2 kool 4 skool.

Loved it =) Very Balenciaga-esque!

Hi Agathe, I love your site, and your innovation with fashion. I’ve been reading it for the last week and have gained a lot of inspiration from it.
However, I’m finally moved to comment because I need prescription glasses and I’ve hated wearing them ever since I went through high school with large geeky frames. Now I use contact lenses and still hate going out with spectacles on. So it is refreshing and somewhat ironic for me to find people out there who think geeky glasses are cool.
Thanks for making laugh at an old insecurity.

wow that scarf looks fabulous with the the coins, they were meant to be. kinda gypsy like.

Great idea to reuse the chain belt and coins. The scarf is very Balenciaga. I’ll have to keep an eye out for some similar coins. I’d love to try that.

Fashion is so ridiculous. I remember I used to wear glasses like that in 7th grade because I couldn’t afford the nice designer glasses so had to settle for the ones insurance could cover which looked just like that. And I got made fun of SO much because of my nerdy granny glasses. And now they’re hip. And now they’re trendy!
But anyway, they look fab on you!

Thank you guys! It´s so funny to hear from all of you that have worn geeky glasses cause you had do. I guess we should push for making anything that´s useful trendy. Lots of kids at school didn´t wear beanies or scarves for example in the winter, it wasn´t very cool, and now it´s completely changed.

Wonderful ideas! I think you’ve pulled off the first look very well. I guess I would look like some granny if I wore that chain over the geeky glasses lol.
Nice job with the scarf too! It’s beautiful!

Can’t say I care much for the glasses… (You end up looking a bit older than you actually are!) But I adore your scarves!
October 24th, 2007 at 8:27 am
I was just wondering how you make the scarf? was it a bandana and you just tied it?
