I´m spending the evening browsing theURBANcollection for new vintage goodies. They´ve been updating all day and every now and then designer pieces are added as well. My heart was set on the color block dress to the left but sadly it is too small. Maybe one of you will fit into it? They do have some unique pieces though, also for those of us who aren´t a size 0!

Jumpsuit

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

I was saving it for spring, but I could wait no longer, I had to wear my new jumpsuit. Too bad it´s a boring old Wednesday and I haven´t got any big plans for the evening. The safari jumpsuit I ordered was a little small. I blame it on my long torso, cause it fit everywhere else. I will hand it into a tailor hoping he will be able to make me fit into it. If not I will offer it to one of you, I know several of you liked it, and I wouldn´t want it to just sit in my closet.

Vintage Hunters

vintage hunters

It´s been a while since I wrote about online secondhand shops so it´s about time I do, cause new ones keep popping up here and there. I love shopping from vintage shops like these rather than eBay which I often turn to, cause I don´t have to stress out about the bidding. It´s always a bummer when something you like disappears right in front of your eyes. While here, if you spot it first, it´s yours. It´s always a good idea to sign up for the shop´s newsletter to get the first dibs on new items.

Vintage Hunters is a new vintage shop located in Poland. Isn´t it fun that you can buy things from all over the world without even leaving your bed? They do of course ship their carefully selected items worldwide. I especially noticed a couple of sweet leather skirts and a fringe leather handbag in stock, all reasonably priced. I settled on a strapless floral dress that will be perfect for summer, or even winter with black tights and some heels. Strangely enough I am seeing a lot of florals in the fall/winter collections. But first comes spring, and while we wait nothing is better than shopping for the perfect wardrobe.

Zippers

Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Trend Alerts

A friend of mine told me a few weeks ago that she had developed this thing for zippers. Looks like she might be in luck cause there are tons of them on the runway. It would also be a super easy DIY project: Take a boring black skirt, cut it open at front and sew it back in place with a zipper. I plan on giving it a go.

Roses

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

I have a hunch I´ll be wearing this dress until it falls to pieces. It´s so soft and roomy, and I tend to go mostly for comfortable outfits these days. The roses I got for our anniversary were starting to wither, so I cut off the tops and put them in a bowl.

alex chloe

It’s time for the first sweepstake ever on this blog! In collaboration with Alex & Chloe (you know I love their jewelry) you now have the opportunity to get a little in return for faithfully stopping by here every now and then.

Alex & Chloe recently launched their Black Diamonds collection which is quirkier and more beautiful than ever. The price consists of no less than three pieces from this collection - Alex’s Zero Carat Diamond in Silver, Dark Crystal in Gold, and Bermuda Triangle in Black.

To get a chance at winning this box set we want you to submit an artwork that is inspired by the Black Diamonds collection. This can be a photograph, painting, collage, drawing - whatever media you you want. How you want to solve the challenge is completely up to you. You will have two weeks to submit your contribution, which means you will have to submit your artwork within the 10th of March. After that date Alex & Chloe will choose three favorites, so will I, and we’ll choose the winner from there.

All contributions can be sent to hello@stylebytes.net. Please type “Alex & Chloe” in the subject field to make it a little easier for me to sort through the mails. I will let each contestant know I received the mail so if any of you don’t receive a reply you should try sending it again.

I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with - I know there are a lot of creative people out there! Good luck to all of you!

Layered Blazers

Filed in: Designers, Fashion

Both A.F. Vandervorst and Bruno Pieters layered two blazers on top of each other. I wonder if I can find a way to make it work for me. There were lots of other interesting layered looks in the collections as well.

Snakeskin Bangles

Filed in: Accessories, Fashion, Secondhand, Shopping

The only wearable items I found while thrift shopping today were these real snakeskin bangles. I wear a lot of bangles these days so I was thrilled, and even better that they were just a couple of dollars for the lot.

Bric-a-Brac

I´m a little hung over after yesterday and my hair is a mess so I´m hiding in a hood. I´ve stopped by my hairdresser over at Billie Bangs several times for a trim, but he ´s always busy. We went to a couple of markets today with some friends and had a great time. Now we´re making steamed cod with lentils and vegetables.

Fur

Filed in: Accessories, Designers, Fashion, Trend Alerts

As I mentioned earlier, there´s been a lot of the long feather-like fur on the runway, especially Gareth Pugh´s is much like the Ann Demeulemeester collar I got yesterday. I love this as a change from all the more traditional furs.

The more ordinary sheep fur is something else I like from the shows. I got a huge white collar like this a few weeks ago. It looks really dramatic and I got is as a substitute for a sheep fur vest I´ve been craving for quite some time. Fur collars in general seem to be making it big, but I´d like to get my hands on a vest like this too.

Spinach Risotto

Filed in: Fashion, Outfits

Food is my second passion, after fashion. Today we made spinach risotto and it was the best meal I´ve had in a while. Tonight we´re having some friends over for drinks along with another round of deviled eggs. And here is the third of the Ann Demeulemeester pieces I got today.

3 x Ann Demeulemeester

Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Secondhand, Shopping

I stopped by the most amazing vintage shop in Oslo today. Tonica Vintage Corner. I´ve always known about it and went there a couple of times while a was a student, but then it was a bit too expensive for me. Since it´s on the other side of town, I haven´t ended up going there after I started earning money, but today I did. It´s run by the sweetest old ladies. They look really posh and one of them has one of those tiny dogs with the name Chanel. When it´s quiet they sit in a corner talking about love and life. The shop itself is in an old apartment, with kitchen, bathroom and everything. What´s so great about this shop is that they have a lot of designer pieces, and they don´t rip you off selling them. I intended to bring a camera, but since I have no pictures, I´ll tell you more about the shop on another occasion.

I first found this Ann Demeulemeester fur collar. Very reasonably priced and the fur is similar to what I´ve seen a lot of in the fall runway shows. It looks like something in between feathers, sheep fur and human hair. I have no idea what kind of animal it is. It´s hard to capture it on a photo like this, but is really beautiful.

When I was about to pay for this along with an Etro skirt, also very reasonably priced, and an old slip, they told me they had two more Ann Demeulemeester pieces. One was a top with fringes for arms. I plan on wearing it tonight so I´ll show you pictures then. The other was a blazer. On first look it looks like any other blazer, pin striped, dark colors. Nothing too special.

But once you look a little closer you see that there are no buttons, no collar, the hem is uneven… There are so many details that pop up once you study it a little bit.

Sadly it was a bit big. It looked cool on, but this was the most expensive of the items, and I wasn´t prepared to spend that much if it didn´t fit right. They suggested my husband tried it on, and on him it was perfect. So we decided to split the bill between us, so I ended up with the blazer as well.

Every time you buy something at this shop you get lottery tickets, how many depends on how much you buy, and every second month they draw gift certificates. I keep my fingers crossed I win, cause I´d like to get my hands on a lot more from this shop!

Again it seems to be the colors that is brought to my attention, or here it´s in a way the lack of colors. These are at least some of many outfits that consisted of garments, as well as shoes and accessories, in only one color.
