Pointy Toes
Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Shoes, Trend Alerts
I remember very well when the trend shifted from the pointy toe to the more rounded ones. I only managed to buy two pairs of pointy toed shoes before I got sick of them and desperately wanted a change, but it was difficult to find anything else. When other styles entered the market I wished it would never go back to the way it was. The pointy toe just wasn´t for me. Since then I have more or less kept to the rounded toe, except a few pairs of classic pumps with something more in between the two and a pair of oxfords. Now however, I must say I find it interesting to see signs of the trend shifting again. Pointy toed boots and pumps were used in many of the fall collections, here from Chado Ralph Rucci and Balenciaga. I am still a little sceptical to the boots, I guess there are just too many bad memories associated with them, but as long as there are multiple options in shops, I will be happy.

Oh I’m not at all for the return of the pointed toe! I have rather large feet and pointed toes make my feet look HUGE!!!! So i’m sticking to the round and in-between!!!

I still think pointy toes are creepy. But well, it’s possible I change my mind in half a year. I don’t know yet. The only thing I can think of right now is the fact that they look ugly and cheap.

They are coming back alright. I’m sure the Sex in the City movie has something to do with it. It’s 1998 all over. I don’t mind too much. I dig a pointy toe.

I love the crock black ones they are hot!
Funny I the other day I just donated to the
thrift store my old pointy boots and now I hear this. Ha! Ha!

Pointy shoes definitely have a time & place– not to mention, can only be so flattering! For a toe that is very long, they can make a large shoe size look clownish, or a wide foot look elfish.

I really don’t like pointy toes!
A few years ago I had one pair of boots with pointy toes and I liked them very much at that moment. When I see them now I really don’t understand how I could like them…
I’m sticking to my own shoes: round or in-between!

the problem with pointy toe shoes is that the point is destroyed very fast from walking :( I used to love them and bought a lot, now I can reuse them ;)

Ah, now it comes back to me, my big feet must be one of the reasons why I didn´t wear them that much! And it is true that they get easily destroyed, I remember lots of girls walking around in shoes like that with the toe kind of bended. The pointy toed ankle boot I am ready for any day though!

ah, but for those of us with teeny feet and short legs, the much-awaited return of the pointy toe is cause for celebration! =]
personally, i can’t touch a ballet flat, but wouldn’t wish them away for the people on whom they look great.

I love pointy toed shoes! I wear a US size 9.5-10 and a pointy toe does not make my feet look bigger as long as the heel is 2inches+. It’s a great way to make your legs look longer and leaner, I say!

I think pointy-toed shoes, especially heels are a classic item, but I never really liked them. They look too tacky for me. I prefer round-toed heels.

I could never, ever get used to them :( THey looked weird and my toes always get squished in them so I was extremely happy when the rounded came back! I am sticking to it until they have to pry them from my feet!!

I know exactly how you feel as I had the same issue in shops awhile back. I find most pointy toes simply unflattering and eventually the ends curl up, which looks even worse! I’ve kind of made my peace with them now by going for shoes with a more subtle pointed toe instead of a needle sharp one. 80’s vintage shoes often have softer points.

same here. i was soooo pleased when the fashion changed to round-toed shoes! because you couldnt really get anything but pointy-toed shoes anywhere.
and now they’re back
sigh
BTW I do like the 1980’s subtle pointed toe shoe- much more flattering

I have these bad memories too maybe you can even call them nightmares. Hope it will take a long time before they come back!

Mmmm, the ankle boots do look cute with the pointy toe. And I never ever said I was going to say that!

pointy shoes are horrible for larger feet and men’s feet, they look like medieval bufoons in them, they definitely make the feet look unnaturally long. here in central europe, every chick wears them.

oh i go back and forth on this one, i guess it just depends on the outfit/mood! i think pointy can sometimes make your feet look huge(and i’m only a size 36.5)

Please tell me it isn’t so. I can’t stand pointy-toed shoes.

OH GOD NO!!!!
the pointed toe is so awful!

Highly pointed toes are the most hideous design ever foisted upon women.
In general I assume women wear fashion apparel to be attractive to the opposite sex.
In what Bizzarro world do you think making your foot look like an ultra extended hoof is attractive to a normal male?
They make a womens feet look over sized, bent and deformed to us men.

these really aren’t for me. they make the end of my foot look really long. and i have small feet.

It seems as if one should not throw away things that are pieces of fast trends.
In wise awaiting I kept my 1998 tiny grey fake snake skin jacket, after leopard print came back it is only a question of time until the rest of strange 1998 trend return.
