Redken
I spent a small fortune on hair products today. On impulse I stopped by a hairdresser telling them about my hair problems, how it´s dry and brittle but also gets greasy really fast. I really never could figure out what to go for and nothing seemed to work. So they suggested a combination of different hair products from Redken. I got the Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner, and for occasional use, the Redken Scalp Relief shampoo. All together it ended up being quite pricey, but they were sweet and gave me a hair dryer for free, so it didn´t feel too bad. So far I can only report that my hair feels different, I noticed it the moment I put the shampoo in the hair. The last time I spent a little money on hair products it was from Kérastase after reading great reviews online. I didn´t however notice anything different compared to the low price products I have used before. I am hoping today´s little investment will give me less hair problems and hair that will stay fresh for longer!

All I can say is that Redkin products are the best! All good hairdressers work with Redkin.
I use it too (frequently, not always, cause indeed it is expensive!)

Hi,
maybe you should also use “a heat-protector” before you blow and straight your hair, and now and then, like when you except to stay at home or when you put your hair on a band (is that the right word?) just let it dry at the fresh air.
I will also say that I have never noticed on your pictures that you’ve got hair problems ;-)

I love Redken! Their products are awesome. All Soft makes my hair feel like no other ;)

Maxine and Lauren, good to hear! After spending all this money I would be pretty upset if I got a lot of comments saying it was crap! :)
Eve, it´s probably a good idea. My hair gets brittle even when I don´t straighten it or anything. Before I cut it last time it was practically falling apart.

Hi Agathe!
Redken products are really great and I use them myself. But you can find them half price at Smartclub in Oslo! :)
Love your blogg, by the way! :)

Your hair could be telling you that you need a vitamin and mineral supplement–nothing fancy or exotic, just a simple multi-vitamin with minerals might help. I’m not a doctor or nurse, but my hair has been like that when I have been deficient in necessary nutrients. Don’t forget minerals like iron, iodine and all those–they are very important! I hope this helps!

I get a lot of free or discounted hair products because my mom works at a salon so I have some of this that I am excited to try. I wash my hair everyday so it’s usually dry and a bit staticy. I should force myself to stop. Haha, but anyway, you should let us know how it works out for you!

redken is the only way to go! it’s also a lot cheaper if you buy it on hqhair.com, and they ship internationally so that shouldn’t be a problem. love your blog btw!

It IS an investment! I will never switch from Redken (I can try new things but nothing can replace redken)! I have tried a lot of their products, from different times in my life. I think it is worth every crown when I am seeing the results on my dry hair :-D

hvor er det du har kjøpt nagler som du har festet på ting før her i bloggen?

Hey, I also use Redken All Soft shampoo and conditioner. It definitely does change the way your hair feels. Mine feels so soft now, almost silky. I buy the really big bottles, and really try and go get them during a sidewalk sale, when they can sometimes go for 40 - 50% cheaper. Hope Redken works wonders for your hair too!
P.S. if Redken doesn’t end up working for you, save yourself some money and don’t even bother trying Rusk products. THEY SUCK.

Redken er det beste for stakkarslig hår. Men jo, sinnsykt dyrt!! På lookfantastic.com har de produktene til ca halv pris av norsk pris, så kan lønne seg selv med frakt osv..

I have the EXACT same hair problems as you and I’ve used Redken shampoo & conditioner for years. I go back and forth with the All Soft and Smooth Down to keep them “new” to my hair. Monica is right, you’ve got to buy the big bottles (the kinds they use in the salon). It’s so much cheaper that way and it lasts for months.
If your hair is still brittle try a spray leave-in conditioner. I’ve used every leave-in out there and the best is a drugstore brand called Aussie Hair Insurance. Don’t know if it’s available to you, but it’s better than any salon brand!

use a cholesterol treatment. it only costs a dollar or two for a huge jar of it. and for deep treating your hair, blow dry it with the conditioner in, then wash it out.

Well, I have the same kind of hair. Typical of Asian hair is straight, fine, limp, dry at the ends, greasy at the top. If I don’t wash it for one day it gets super bad. But i found that Federic Fekkai and Wella Professional System shampoos work the best.

i have the same problem as u and keratese works for a bit but it does still feel oily. do review redken and pls let me know if it works for u.
apparently the problem is an oily scalp which makes the hair flat but the hair strands itself is dry and therefore becomes brittle. especially with long hair, the situation is a bit worse.

Thanks all for your advice! My hair is still looking good, except for a cow lick after sleeping, but I can’t really blame that on the shampoo. ;) I am excited to see how it turns out. I’ll avoid washing it today.

Try L’Oreal, their shampoo for normal or greasy hair. use the hair dryer only on the lowest heat level. worked like a charm for me (before that my hair tended to look worn out and startet to feel greasy pretty soon). And is quite low cost. Used L’oreal for the past 5 years and won’t change it for anything else (though I sometimes tried other shampoos I got free)

My stylist taught me to mix different Redken products to get better results. I used to mix Redken All Soft conditioner with Redken Extreme. It did wonders for my hair. Lookfantastic.com often has specials on duo’s (shampoo and conditioner) for under kr 200,-, which is where I used to order mine. I wish I could still use it. My hair loved it but my scalp was another story. I’ve switched to organic products since and my hair and scalp are much happier. I just noticed today that I don’t have a single split end since cutting my hair a month ago and I often blow dry and straighten my hair.

I use Tigi Bed Head hair products and I am very satisfied with them :) Also a bit pricey, but they are 100% worth it.

well-known brand is not always instant mark of quality
and people usually convince themselves that something really works, if they pay a lot for it

Redken saved my hair! I had a problem with my hair last year and I just didn’t know what to do with it. I tried different brands of hair products but none of them worked. Then my friend gave me a Redken conditioner as a birthday gift and it made miracle to my hair! Wonderful product. Also, my friend uses Avebda products and her hair also looks amazing.
I’ve been reading your blog since last summer. You really have a great style in terms of clothing, home decor and life style. Very inspring.

Do you pronounce your name like “ah-gath” or “ah-gath-a”? I’ve been wondering for a while now!

I have very dry hair and I love Redken! I use the same shampoo and conditioner and I notice a big difference. Before I straighten my hair I always spray on a sun protectant to guard against the heat…that helps too!

honestly…i have the same problems…particularly because my hair is very long. and i just stopped shampooing the lower half of it. i just put shampoo on my scalp and greasy bits of hair and then condition the hell out of the rest. i’ve been doing it for about a month now and it’s like i have a new head of hair.
good luck!

Hola, jeg kjøpte de på den sjappa i Storgata, den som har masse militæreffekter og sånn.
Lisa, actually it´s agat-e. Without the h and and e like in end. :) But anything works for me. It´s not a common name in Norway and I am used to being called all sorts of things, most often Agnete, but I have had all sorts of names and I usually don´t say anything.
Thanks all for helpful advice and ideas!

Once in a while, GHD rescue drops do MIRACLES on damaged hair. I use them on my fringe and tips - I have very thin hair that need constant nourishment and protection.
I’m also a huge fan of their ceramic stylers, expensive but over-the-top! <3

Hei!

i just use kerastase because they’re the only ones working for me. the problem with it though is you have to find the right one for u. i tried 4-5 types and now i found my match. try bain gommage for oily hair because i have the same problem as you. :)
i also tried redken, tigi bed head everything did not work. too bad. but i really hope this one works for u. :) it was expensive after all. :)

I dont think the scalp shampoo was the best idea while it will help your oiliness it will make your hair more brittle. i would of recomended the shampoo you got and than some sort of scalp topical treatment like scalp benefits from Aveda.
if you ever have any hair problems i would love to hear them. im a cosmotologist for a living so i just love giving advice on this sort of thing

I have really greasy hair, the day after I wash it, it looks greasy. Therefor I sometimes use dry shampoos (Right word?)cause I do know I shouldn’t wash it too much, that’s why when I’m at home and don’t have to go anywhere, I don’t do anything too it.
But it sucks so much, maybe I should try Redken and see if it helps.
March 24th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
i love your hair! do you iron-flat it or something to get it so straight?
