The Swap

Do you remember the boots I paid a lot of money for a few months ago? I saw them and thought I just couldn´t live without them. Well, I ended up wearing them once, and that was on a day I didn´t even shoot any pictures. Then the pig got to them and chewed on the straps. I had it fixed and they look like new, but the feeling just isn´t the same anymore.

During all of this I was mailing back and forth with Sarah Brannon, the designer behind Chelsea Rebelle, who was recently featured in Nylon. She loved the boots and tried to get a hold of a pair of her own, but couldn´t find them. She said that if I ever thought of selling them, she wanted to buy them from me. So I thought, why not just make a swap? Better having a couple of her designs rather than a pair a boots I never wear, no matter how much I love them. I had already fallen in love with the soldier pants that were pictured in Nylon. They´re not available yet as they´re from her fall collection, but I am getting them as well as the collarette (a lose collar) that I imagine I can do a lot of fun things with.

This weekend I am sending her the boots and she is sending me a couple of her designs, and I am thrilled that getting the boots might have been meant to be after all, even though it didn´t turn out quite how I had imagined.

  1. Sally Jane Says:

Wow! That’s so great for you. There are no words to describe how jealous I am of those pants. Can’t wait to see them.

  2. Carolina Says:

    Great idea to swap!

  3. Amy Says:

That’s a really great idea! Maybe you could do ads for some of your other unwanted stuff too, and people could bid on them with their own offers of items!

  4. Marissa Says:

Wow those pants are amazing! I can’t wait to see how they look in the future. Swaps are always good things!

  5. Luxe. Says:

Wow what a great swap!! Those super high waisted pants are a dream, lucky lady!

  6. panniethreads Says:

your little piggy helped you get some nice pants and colarette heehee

  10. em Says:

lucky lucky! Fate has smiled upon you :)

  11. earthkitten Says:

Yeah you know, swapping ROCKS! I have yet to do it with someone, but I sure love the idea of barter. :)

  12. Lynn Says:

It’s fated you got the boots :). The pants are amazingly gorgeous!

  13. amanda Says:

    i am so jealous. :(

  14. Björk Says:

Oh I have been waiting patiently for a shot of you in those boots!!! I had my eye on a pair myself last year but they were so expensive, when they finally got on sale my size wasn´t available anymore! By that time I was ready to pay the actual price for them! I am happy to hear that they will now belong to someone who will wear them more and you will get something you can use more! What a great deal…

  15. Queen Michelle Says:

How strange, I am currently waiting on the exact same trousers! Slightly worried about the fact they are wool though - wonder if they will be itchy? You’ll look fab in them due to your very long legs.

  16. Prêt-à-Porter P Says:

    cool how that worked out

  17. Aja Says:

I’m so envious! I absolutely love those pants. They totally caught my eye when I opened that issue of Nylon. Maybe I should email her and find out the cost. I’m all for supporting new designers.
