Fake Dior Tennis Bag

Filed in: Fashion, Handbags, Links, Shopping

I got a comment on the blog saying how it was such a disgrace that someone were selling a fake designer bag on Etsy. There was a link, which I clicked, and it lead me to this. A fake Dior tennis bag. I immediately thought of the vintage Adidas tennis skirt I got several years ago, and the fact that I had been planning to start playing tennis but never did. Seing that I don´t exercise at all, I figured getting a fun bag wouldn´t be a stupid way to actually take the step. So I got it. Fidgetfinds is the shop.

A little part of me was hoping that it would turn out to be authentic, even though I have no idea whether Dior have ever made such a bag. There´s little doubt though that it´s fake, but it still seems to be of good quality. The straps are of leather and the canvas seems in great condition. It has never even been used. But the best thing is the pocket for your tennis racket, that was actually the selling point for me, not the logo print. So it can be as fake as it possibly can be, but I still love it as I´ve never seen anything like it.

Now I just need tennis shoes.

This bag is the third of my Dior bags, all found secondhand. Which one is real and which one is not is left to the experts to decide, although I am pretty sure the burgundy one is authentic, just cause of the things I found inside it as well as the age of it. It´s possibly the only logo print I like, but this is it. Unless I would come across another $10 find, the collection is now complete.

fake or not fake, it’s still cute. would have been cuter without the logos though. i would love to play tennis but unfortunately, badminton is all that i can. too heavy the racket for me. :)

  2. liselore Says:

haha, that absolutely is a reason to work out :D

  3. Regina Says:

the new bag has such great pockets!

  4. Guerreira Says:

loving the bag!!! if you do play tennis, you will be the cooler player around!!! thinking of it, tennis skirts are really cute, aren’t they? too bad I don’t have the physical coordination gene…

  5. Alice Says:

My friend had coffestained my vintage maroon-cream Dior bag! I love Dior Vintage bags.

I don’t buy knock offs personally. I think fashion design is an art and that buying a copy is an insult to the artist. On the other hand, prices of designer handbags are skyrocketing. So that leaves people in the middle economically with a problem. Oh well. Your bags are cute. If you want to authenticate them, look it up online. There are websites that can tell you what to look for. I did it for a Chanel bag once.

  7. AnonyMouse Says:

    fake = counterfeit = fradulent

so whether it’s of good quality or not is not the question. buying fake, even secondhand fake, is still supporting and illegal market.

all that aside, i think you have a great site with a cool eye for fashion and unique style :)

    OMG! It’s Dior… You’re lucky! ;)

  9. Agathe Says:

Modejunkie, I fear that my arms will be too weak for tennis too!

Guerreira, the outfit is half the fun! :) I think tennis might be a sport for me, I used to be pretty good in badminton.

    Alice, shame on your friend!

Rose, I could check it out, but since I have gotten them all for so little money it hasn´t really made too big a difference for me. I am curious whether Dior have ever made a tennis bag though…

AnonyMouse, I completely get your point, still I feel like bying secondhand isn´t too bad, at least not when you hope it might be authentic… ;)

Thanks for putting up this post Agathe! I had no idea this bag was causing so much controversy. I bought it at a church flea market/auction in Westport, Massachusetts last summer, in case you were wondering. Usually I disagree with the ethics of knockoffs myself, but this one was really old and I was a total sucker for the tennis racket pouch too. Some old lady cleaned it out of her basement or attic to put it in the church yard sale. I figured that someone should enjoy it, and I’m glad it’s you. Enjoy!

Until all the fashion mags stop plastering the lastest $5,000 “IT” bags on the pages of their publications, the counterfeit market will continue to thrive. Yes, it’s sad but true. Even worse, is when these magazines show the ‘hottest celebrities’ carrying these designer creations. These young women, who these fashion mags market to, cannot afford to pay that kind of money for a designer handbag. It’s a vicious cycle, in my opinion.

  12. amanda Says:

i don’t care whether it’s fake or not, it’s gorgeous

  13. Agathe Says:

Nicole, haha, I kind of was expecting it! When I first saw it I decided against it just cause the fact that it was fake. But then I thought it was a silly reason not to buy it cause I was crazy about the pockets. And when would I ever come across such a bag again? I can’t wait to start playing tennis now! Thanks for the fast shipping by the way and the nice card! :)

It’s nice to have real things but fakes can be beautiful as well. If designers lowered their prices we would not have to go down that route!

  16. kim Says:

A couple of weeks ago I went thriftshopping for the very first time, and in one store I found 3 designer bags, 2 Dior and 1 YSL. One of them was a navy on cream Dior logo print bag - I really liked it, but was not sure whether it was the real deal. It still cost 90€, and the store was at the edge of the posh shopping neighbourhood, but I just couldn’t tell whether it was real or not, and to spend 90€ on a fake bag was a bit too much for me. Then again, it may have been real :(. How were you able to tell that your burgundy Dior was a real one, besides that it was old? Any tips?

  17. Agathe Says:

    Jess, thank you!

Jen, designer bags are overprised, and I doubt I would ever buy one full prize.

Kim, if the shop sells it as if it was real they should have some sort of proof cause that’s a stiff price for a fake bag. The burgundy was filled with different things from different airlines and at that time, probably the 70’s, traveling abroad wasn’t very common. I figured it must have been some rich lady and she would never buy a fake bag. I do of course not know for sure. The blue clutch was sold as an authentic bag, I got it cheap cause the clasp is broken, but I don’t know for sure about that one either. There are websites on the net that will tell you what to look for though. Now that I already have them I don’t care, but if I was to pay 90 euro for a secondhand designer bag, I would like to know how to tell if it was real.

  18. Trina Says:

    Hot bag!

  19. mica Says:

What a great collection, amazing how you managed to find so many second hand :) they look really good, and I would have no idea if they were fake either!
