Prints

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines, Shopping

I collected the very last of my coins and got an issue of British Vogue. Somehow it makes more sense to spend my money on something fun rather than food. Anyway, flipping through the magazine on my way back home made me realize how much I´d like to get my hands on more prints. It´s just so much easier to mix and match when you have a little to choose from. Even printed socks feels like a must.

The socks are available at MyTights and I will place an order as soon as I get my paycheck.

The Swap

Filed in: Designers, Fashion, Magazines

chelsea rebelle nylon

Do you remember the boots I paid a lot of money for a few months ago? I saw them and thought I just couldn´t live without them. Well, I ended up wearing them once, and that was on a day I didn´t even shoot any pictures. Then the pig got to them and chewed on the straps. I had it fixed and they look like new, but the feeling just isn´t the same anymore.

During all of this I was mailing back and forth with Sarah Brannon, the designer behind Chelsea Rebelle, who was recently featured in Nylon. She loved the boots and tried to get a hold of a pair of her own, but couldn´t find them. She said that if I ever thought of selling them, she wanted to buy them from me. So I thought, why not just make a swap? Better having a couple of her designs rather than a pair a boots I never wear, no matter how much I love them. I had already fallen in love with the soldier pants that were pictured in Nylon. They´re not available yet as they´re from her fall collection, but I am getting them as well as the collarette (a lose collar) that I imagine I can do a lot of fun things with.

This weekend I am sending her the boots and she is sending me a couple of her designs, and I am thrilled that getting the boots might have been meant to be after all, even though it didn´t turn out quite how I had imagined.

Retro Lingerie

Filed in: Fashion, Links, Magazines

It´s a little funny that in the middle of my vintage lingerie hunt this fashion spread should pop up in the very magazine I am featured in. In Amica you can see this lingerie, some of which looks really, really old while in fact it´s brand new. It seems like you can get the right vintage feel at Triumph, La Perla and several others. You don´t have to roam thrift shops and you don´t have to worry about who might have worn it before you got to it. The downside is that the really good stuff is still pricey. Lets hope the high street shops catches on.

amica

Here I am in Amica together with Style Bubble, The Sartorialist and a couple of others. It´s always interesting how they ask a gazillion questions and manage to narrow it down to a little mention at the bottom of the page. But press is (almost) always fun and I am much more comfortable doing these kind of things than full blown interviews. Welcome new readers!

Nylon

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines

I got the February issue of Nylon the other day and one of the things that caught my eye was the article on London style seen from an American point of view. I love the photos and I have found myself lusting after the Acne grid skirt in the first picture. I remember them from their show and as far as I can remember I didn´t like them then. Now things have changed, and I am trying to get a hold of one for my own but so far I have had no luck.

Molvin the Model

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines

I don´t know whether I should be proud or kind of sad that my pig already made a bigger career as a model than I ever did. Here are at least a couple of shots from a spread in the February issue of Natt & Dag. The talented photographer is Hilde Groven who you´ll find both at Flickr and Phiary.

Temporary Tattoos

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines

I´ve been playing with the idea of temporary tattoos for a while. I even got a bunch that I wore during my biker chick period. I do have a real tattoo that I got when I was 18. I never really thought that true and wouldn´t mind having that tattoo undone even though it doesn´t bother me much. Having the opportunity to have one you can remove when you get sick of it is a much better idea though. I´ve especially been fascinated by sailor tattoos, but I would never tattoo a permanent anchor on my arm.

Seeing the cover spread in Vogue Italia brought that old fascination back to life and I am going to keep my eyes open for more temporary tattoos just in case a good occasion to wear them would come along.

And… I´d also like a floral dress and multi colored platforms!

Style Bytes in Play Vanilla

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines, Press

I´m not sure if it´s in the current issue, but I was interviewed for the German magazine Play Vanilla and I just got it today. I took German classes for four years when I was younger, so I understand most of it; everything sounds so much funnier in German. These are just the images, the article itself is mostly about my personal thoughts on fashion and my own favorites.

Winter

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines

When I think of winter I think of bundling into layers of beautiful clothes, drinking hot chocolate in front of the fireplace and taking a moonlight stroll in the evening. It´s all very romantic and also very comfortable. Something more in the line of these images in Costume.

It was when seeing these I first came to realize how my idea of winter have been so wrong all these years. I just never seem to learn. But each year it´s the same - it get´s too cold to ever be comfortable in anything. Right now it´s freezing outside, and with a parka, beanie, mittens, wool socks, a chunky cardigan over two layers of sweaters, it´s hard to keep that effortlessly stylish look. Next year will probably be just the same, I´ll imagine I can dress like that all winter, and when the temperature drops below zero, I´ll be just as shocked about how cold it is.

I Want

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines

I have nearly not been inside a shop that sell clothes, shoes or anything of the sort for weeks and weeks. Having had to put all my money into other things I had almost blocked out that they existed. Celebrating that I had completed the first down payment of the apartment I got an issue of Costume. And of course, all my cravings entered the surface again. There are so many things I want! I attempted a little shopping round, but at this time of year it´s hopeless, the shops are just too crowded. So I am saving it for the sales. If I can wait that long…

Bon

Filed in: Fashion, Magazines

The issue of Bon that I got yesterday was left alone, but while flipping through it today I found more of the Balenciaga inspired looks and more of the feathers. I especially love the way the scarf is wrapped over the models hair. Nice and comfortable in this cold weather.
