I went shopping with the intention of getting a couple of pairs of jeans, something I really need as I have only two I wear on a regular basis. Before I got that far my bank account was empty and I had purchased everything but jeans…
A pair of buckle boots.

A full sailor girl uniform, with gauchos as the bottom part. I am really excited about this one as we´re planning on a nice boat trip this summer to Træna, the island I lived the first years of my life. It´s far far out in the sea and has only 450 inhabitants. I´m keeping my fingers crossed that my dad will buy that new boat he´s talking about.

A mohair sweater with pearls and rhinestones. It´s a little oversized and I´m planning on wearing it tucked into a leather skirt.

A Marimekko-esque maxi skirt. I´m starting to get quite a collection of maxi skirts and dresses. If only the sun would shine soon. I don´t really feel like wearing long skirts when it´s raining…

A gold and black batwing super 80´s sweater. It´s really ugly, has got huge shoulder pads, but oh so fun!

In case you´re looking for a motorcycle jacket Bona Drag has one at $75 which pretty cheap right now considering the weak dollar. And while you´re at it, you can also get a pair of gladiator sandals for $54.

The weather was OK when I stepped outside the door this morning to go to the local flea market. All of a sudden it was pouring. By the time I got there people were frantically trying to save their things away from the water which wasn´t an easy task with the wind. I only took a quick look around and when I was about to rush back home I spotted these red leather boots. I didn´t intend to try them on and the seller obviously just wanted to get away from there and offered them to me for almost nothing. It all went really fast and suddenly I had purchased them.
Once I got home and tried them on I realized that they fit perfectly and were in mint condition. It was then I started thinking about when I am actually going to wear them. The color red seem to scare me a little. I got a gorgeous red coat last fall, but haven´t worn it once. I got it secondhand, it´s oversized but can be tied at the waist, and it looks very expensive compared to what I paid for it. But I don´t seem to know what to do with the color, it´s like it eats up everything else. It was probably not a bad idea getting them anyway, I just need to use it as an opportunity to learn how to think differently about colors and step away from all my personal hangups and dos and donts.

I´ve never been a flats girl. Somehow, even though I am quite tall, they make me feel stumpy. But lately, as I´ve purchased a maxi dress as well as a long skirt, I´ve been playing with the idea of getting a pair of flats to wear with them. Today I came across these leather gladiator sandals at a thrift shop at $10 and I figured that was a price I was willing to pay to test it out.

The butterfly necklace is another thing I thrifted with spring in mind. I love that it´s so big.

At last I got a scarf and a set of gold bracelets.

I intended to stay far away from shops this week. Oh, well…

I woke up this morning with a lot lighter mood and planned on wearing my new dress along with a vintage fur coat. I jumped in the shower and got ready. Then I looked out the window - it was pouring. The day didn´t at all end up as planned, just much better. We started with breakfast at Hotel Havana. They have the best sandwiches in the world, no doubt. Then we took the tram over to the west side of the city and went to Tonica. The women there for some reason love my husband. They keep finding him stuff and giving him crazy discounts. He bought an Yves Saint Laurent blazer that he got dirt cheap. I felt a little left out as I didn´t find anything at all. I had my eye on a feather collar, but it was Tonica´s personal belonging.

Then we continued shopping other places and I got some things intended for DIY projects, as well as another pair of shoes at Zara. Now I can forget about the ones I was waiting so patiently for, but it´s no biggie.

We took the tram over to the east side of the city where I got some more craft supplies. Yellow taffata that I am going to use for a D&G inspired dress and some other things. After that it was dinner at Punjab Tandoori. Lamb Karhai and a beer for a few dollars. Yummy. I was so stuffed afterwards it felt like I rolled my way home.

This evening, unless I hear of some fun party, I´m going to spend working on my DIY projects.

There are so many things I want yet too little money in my bank account. I am desperate for a pair of Ann Demeulemeester boots and there´s a pair of shoes on Zara that I also desperately want, that has still not come to Norway as far as I know. I need to save up for those things and buying little things here and there really doesn´t make it any better, except for being some sort of comfort while I wait. Today I stopped by Zara looking for the shoes I originally wanted and I noticed these heels on sale. Just one pair left and they were in my size. Now, I have a lot of shoes, a lot of black shoes too, but when it comes to actual wear, I usually opt for my stripper heels and I am getting a little fed up with wearing the same shoes all the time. So I grabbed the Zara heels before I got the time to change my mind. They weren´t expensive but in the long run it really does make a difference.

By the way, they came with an extra set of heel taps. It so rarely happens while I really think all shoes should come with an extra pair, especially stilettos as they wear down so fast.

What better day to receive these boots than on my birthday? (I am 26 today!) I´ve been mad about fringes for a while now and a pair of leather boots with fringes is one of the things I´ve been craving. Weeks of searching through eBay with no luck made me beleive I would never find them. But one day I suddenly found the perfect pair from the seller Totalmodness (which seems to be a seller with an eye for vintage goodies by the way) and I ordered them immediately. I can happily declare that they fit perfectly and look even better in person. They don´t even seem to ever have been worn!

Fringed boots as seen in the shows of Anna Sui and Gucci.

I remember very well when the trend shifted from the pointy toe to the more rounded ones. I only managed to buy two pairs of pointy toed shoes before I got sick of them and desperately wanted a change, but it was difficult to find anything else. When other styles entered the market I wished it would never go back to the way it was. The pointy toe just wasn´t for me. Since then I have more or less kept to the rounded toe, except a few pairs of classic pumps with something more in between the two and a pair of oxfords. Now however, I must say I find it interesting to see signs of the trend shifting again. Pointy toed boots and pumps were used in many of the fall collections, here from Chado Ralph Rucci and Balenciaga. I am still a little sceptical to the boots, I guess there are just too many bad memories associated with them, but as long as there are multiple options in shops, I will be happy.

It´s strange sometimes the people I get in touch with because of the blog. I recently got a mail from a woman who had sorted through her old jewelry, and instead of tossing out what she wasn´t going to keep, she thought of me. I obviously offered to pay her, but she didn´t want anything in return, and since I believe that all jewelry and clothing deserves to be worn, I met up with her today. This is what I got, my favorites being the giant earrings, the bangles, the Maltese cross brooch along with the tiger brooch.

And as if this wasn´t enough, she also brought along a pair of Gucci loafers that were too small for her!

Sometimes the best things in life really are free, and not only for the fact that I got all this stuff, but for meeting such a generous soul.

Remember those smart Mohop shoes I received some months ago? Now there´s an even more brilliant design available, the wooden wedges. The genious thing about these shoes is that you can change ribbons whenever you feel like it. There are loops on each side of the shoe where you can strap any ribbon you want in any way you want. The possibilities are endless! The loops are elastic so even if you tie the ribbons tight, they will sit comfortably on your foot. You can choose from three different looks (low heel to high heel) and two different kinds of wood, each pair comes with 5 pairs of ribbons of your choice, and right now you even get free worldwide shipping if you enter the coupon code “SUMMER”. I feel a little like Oprah ranting about these shoes like they were God´s gift to women, but I truly find them amazing. So they cost somewhere between $200 and $300 depending on the style, but think about everything you can do with these!

These…

…will be my version of the gladiator sandals. I can´t quite put the stripper heels on the shelf, everything under 6″ just seems so low after I dared embark upon those heights. Ok, so they are from those shops we won’t speak loudly of, but sometimes they seem to be the only ones that go this extreme. These are leather though and not some questionable PVC material or whatever. Yesterday I was looking for shoulder kissing earrings, and I discovered that if I put the word “drag” in with my search, I just got so much more to choose from. And remember when I was looking for a sequin dress before they were in every high street store? The only ones carrying them were drag queen shops, so that’s where I had to go. These are indeed women’s shoes, and does not run in big sizes as far as I know, I just think it’s funny the places I end up to get these things.
And to the inspiration, way more walkable shoes, and completely different, but I do love mine!

D&G, Balenciaga and Givenchy.

I love Sundays, there´s not really anything to do than to check out markets…

…and walk long strolls by the river…

…and end up with a couple of new things.

So I got these today. I´ve been drooling over them for ages but the price tag was just a little stiff. Even on sale they weren´t exactly cheap, then again leather boots never are. I needed new black boots and these were the perfect mix between cowboy/harness boots and simple/versatile boots. The straps come off and the low heels make them perfect even on days I walk a lot. They´re from Janet&Janet.

And I am almost embarrassed to say that I also got the Sam Edelman/Victoria´s Secret boots. They were on sale and were 1/4 of the price of the boots above, and the most brutal boots I´ve ever seen. Sadly the sizing is a little odd and the toe is really long. They don´t feel big on the foot so I am debating with myself whether to exchange them, something that will cost me almost as much as the shoes themselves. The brutalness of the shoes hides the fact that they are long, unless you look for it. And since they´re so narrow I´m afraid they´ll be too small if I exchange them…

One of the best things about Christmas is the sale. When shopping for Christmas ornaments yesterday I also came across these shoes, and it was love at first sight. The sales woman did a mistake and I got them 50% off instead of 30%. What I really need though is a pair of black boots, something that has proved to be harder to find.

Say what you want, these are my new shoes for winter! Super warm and super comfortable. They were made for many many decades at my hometown Nesna in Northern Norway. A while ago though they stopped producing them and I was bummed out that the only pair I had were a size too big. Last week a girl at work told me she had a pair that was a size too small. It turned out that I had her size while she had mine, so we swapped! Now I finally have my own pair which will be perfect to and from work when I never bother to even think of wearing heels.
