I can´t get my mind off ruffles.

Sweet and innocent from John Galliano og Giles.

With a twist from D&G and Givenchy.

Magazine clippings from British Elle.

Dress from Sisley I wouldn´t mind having for myself.

I don´t think I´ve ever before seen so many florals in the fall/winter collections as this time around. Normally I´d consider it more of a spring print, even though I have never been able to draw a clear line between my winter and summer wardrobe. I have that one floral summer dress that I´ve worn many times with black tights and a leather jacket on cold days, but that´s also just about it. This will definitely make me rethink a little how I do separate the seasons, cause even though I wear tweed in summer and mini skirts in winter, I guess I´ve been pretty conservative when it comes to florals.

Middle three are Rachel Comey, Jasun Wu and Derek Lam.

I remember very well when the trend shifted from the pointy toe to the more rounded ones. I only managed to buy two pairs of pointy toed shoes before I got sick of them and desperately wanted a change, but it was difficult to find anything else. When other styles entered the market I wished it would never go back to the way it was. The pointy toe just wasn´t for me. Since then I have more or less kept to the rounded toe, except a few pairs of classic pumps with something more in between the two and a pair of oxfords. Now however, I must say I find it interesting to see signs of the trend shifting again. Pointy toed boots and pumps were used in many of the fall collections, here from Chado Ralph Rucci and Balenciaga. I am still a little sceptical to the boots, I guess there are just too many bad memories associated with them, but as long as there are multiple options in shops, I will be happy.

A friend of mine told me a few weeks ago that she had developed this thing for zippers. Looks like she might be in luck cause there are tons of them on the runway. It would also be a super easy DIY project: Take a boring black skirt, cut it open at front and sew it back in place with a zipper. I plan on giving it a go.

Top three are Phi, Dsquared² and Rick Owens.

As I mentioned earlier, there´s been a lot of the long feather-like fur on the runway, especially Gareth Pugh´s is much like the Ann Demeulemeester collar I got yesterday. I love this as a change from all the more traditional furs.

Gareth Pugh, Anna Sui and Dolce & Gabbana.
The more ordinary sheep fur is something else I like from the shows. I got a huge white collar like this a few weeks ago. It looks really dramatic and I got is as a substitute for a sheep fur vest I´ve been craving for quite some time. Fur collars in general seem to be making it big, but I´d like to get my hands on a vest like this too.

Pollini, Topshop unique and Dolce & Gabbana.

Wide brimmed hat is such a classy summer accessory. I put great use into my black H&M hat of last year, but black often feels a little dark for summer, and I wouldn´t mind a different one…

Tracy Reese, Badgley Mischka and Michael Kors.

United Bamboo, DKNY and Douglas Hannant.

It´s hardly any breaking news, florals are always there for spring anyway, this spring no exception. I usually have a hard time finding nice floral garments and I had actually planned to avoid the whole thing this time around. There were some great florals on the runway though…

Top three are Luella, Balenciaga and Karen Walker.
Today I went to a small shop called Day Dreams and there I found this over the top headband with fabric flowers. It´s more something a bride would wear at spring wedding in the outdoors. But then it was on sale, and even though they had other colors, I went for the white cause I thought maybe, just maybe, it would go perfectly with my Zara motorcycle jacket.

All kinds of folkloristic prints made a huge impact on the runway, among them were African inspired prints.

Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg twice, Pollini, Just Cavalli and Pollini again.

It had to happen, after years of oversized shades, they´re now starting to shrink. That´s actually putting it a little mildly as they don´t get much smaller than this.

Marni, Richard Nicoll and Temperley.
However, it doesn´t mean that the big ones are gone. They are an important part of all the 70´s inspired looks that popped up on the runway.

Marc by Marc Jacobs, Matthew Williamson and Bottega Veneta.
My favorites though are the ones that look more like welding glasses.

Burberry Prorsum, Maison Martin Margiela and Emilio Pucci.

The new skirts are the ones with lots of volume that end well below your knee. Might take a little time getting used to, but I am already in love with the looks from Prada and Marni.

Prada, Fendi, Marni, Moschino, Jason Wu and Behnaz Sarafpour.

The open toe boots are a strange invention, making something perfectly practical completely impractical. You can´t wear them when it rains or when it´s cold. But still I love these shoes. It first started with Balenciaga´s fall collection, and with a pair of tights underneath like here, they´ll work even in this cold weather…

Then, in the spring shoes they popped up again in more shows and more ways, from the plain ones, here from Dolce & Gabbana, Abaeté and Cynthia Rowley…

…to the more alternative ones like from Balenciaga, Zero Maria Cornejo and Etro.

Now these are trend items and will probably not last long, so the only way I´m getting a pair is if I come across one that doesn´t cost too much.

The safari inspired looks were big on the runway, the basics being beige suits. I´ll probably end up wearing elements of this look with florals and a touch of 70´s glamour. I just don´t think a full beige outfit would look any good with my skin tone.
